Anyone want to venture an over under guess for the highest and lowest prices of the exclusive Avatar 3D Blu-Ray? Im guessing people won't spend more than 500, which is still too much but any more and I may lose faith in humanity....

Other questions, my roomate just picked up COD Black Ops for PS3 i have the Sammy 8000 Plasma and want to play it in 3d, do you go into an options menu to enable the 3d or would I just use the 2d to 3d conversion method (yeesh)...

Lastly, any good exclusives for Samsung 3D? I feel like Samsung Customers got the shaft a bit (I could be wrong) as Panny has Avatar and Sony has Alice in Wonderland. I know that Samsung has Monsters vs Aliens (and maybe How to train your dragon) but I'd like something that is legit 3d that isnt a cartoon or narrated by Jim Carrey or Tom Cruise. I heard Shrek was supposed to be Samsung but I am not positive on that and I know Samsung does not give you voucher codes (unless you buy the starter pack).

HTTYD is the best 3d "cartoon" bluray available, far better than any of the Shrek movies. And I'm referring to the story, but the 3D is very good too.

Samsung does have the eclusive in the US for all 4x Shrek movies

In COD: Black Ops, go into the options and there is a STEREOSCOPIC 3D ON/OFF

Play nice. It's just an online forum :)

It's different on the PS3. You have to enable your PS3 for 3d. Go to Display Settings on your PS3 and run the automatic configuration. It'll detect that your display is 3d compatible and ask your screen size.

Then all you have to do is launch the game and it automatically triggers 3d mode.

It wail probably be on eBay for 300 bucks off the bat. This whole limited titles stuff is complete bs. The whole thing is lack of content ang these mfgs are restricting it anymore.

I agree, between the exclusive movies, the fact even if you own a samsung you cant independently buy just the movie, and your forced to buy starter packs to get HTTYD, Shreks, & MVA is ridiculous, couple that with the fact Sony & Panasonic each have their own bundles and exclusive rights, its unreal and leads to what we have now with Ebay sellers buying the starter kits for the glasses and then selling off the movie for a high price to offset the cost of the purchase or vice versa (buying for movie and selling glasses individually), I am not blaming anyone for doing it, its just unfortunate that 3d movies is like a trading game in a way then just a new product market.

Lets not forget the fact that all TV's have different standards for their glasses, 3dTVs, and 3dBD players as well which is another factor to really make 3d even tougher to market and grow. And soon there will be another format of 3d or glasses or hdmi that will change the game again.

More importantly thanks for the help with COD and PS3 vs Xbox differences...

I will say that while I don't support the exclusive movies and packs, if anyone is doing it the most "fair", it's Panasonic, at least from initial reports I heard, correct me if I am wrong but even if you just own the TV you can send in a voucher when the movie is released and you will be able to receive Avatar 3d, which is arguably the 3d movie most people with a 3dTV would want...I really wish Samsung would have the type of backwards honoring customer service, I have the 3dtv and the "right" to the samsung 3d movies but only if I buy an expensive bundle first.

God this pisses me off, I mean don't they understand that if there was less exclusive 3d content people would be more willing to buy the TV's and would focus more on TV quality and brand name then bundle packs, while at the same time forcing the TV makers to ensure the best quality of product is on the market which could lead to innovations and quicker, more efficient, and more universal improvements....only in a closer to perfect worl...

IMO, the price of the Avatar 3D BD will be dependent on if Panasonic sells their new Ultimate Pack (MSRP $399) seperately. The official release date is Dec. 1 but it appears some Best Buys have already broken street date.

The U.P. contains the Avatar 3D BD plus 2 pair of their newly designed ASGs

The lowest is out of Russian bootleg sites.
The highest I saw was on eBay.com US$600

I personally would not want it for free.
It is the worst 3D movie ever made.

Really??? And why is that?

How do you account for the fact that it is one of the highest, if not the highest grossing movie of all time? No offense intended, just asking

If you think AVATAR is the worst 3-D movie ever made, then obviously you haven't seen "The Chamber Maids".

Made by Cameron.
US$ value declined since Titanic by 3 fold.
First 3D movie shot with digital camera.
New full color3D projection systems.
Advertising dollars.
New technology 3D TVs and 3D Monitors Hollywood alliance with 3D hardware manufactures.
Total lack of truly realistic 3D content and projection methods.

Why the worst?
No one ever before has coupled IO, convergence and zoom
and made shots that manipulate all three continuously.
It is a total brain confusion for the viewer.
Finally the plot would look better if it was played backwards :-)

AVATAR wasn't the first 3-D movie shot digitally, either. NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 3D and JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH were released in 2006 and 2008.

Always be wary of people saying "the first" anything. There are still producers saying they making the "first" 3-D porn or "first" 3-D film shot in India, even though there have been several of each!

Saying that Panasonic is being more fair about their exclusivity deal than other manufacturers is utterly ridiculous. Why? Because they post-dated their offer to people that purchased their $2000-$5000 high end line of TV? Yeah, Panasonic is a real freakin charity. Do I love my Panasonic 3d Blu-Ray player? Sure I do, and I love their products. But any manufacturer perpetuating exclusivity shouldn't get the word "fair" by their name by any means. They are pushing 3d as a must have feature for the future yet they continue to ****** growth of the technology by making these exclusivity deals the content providers can't refuse.

Panasonic's new print ad(which may be showing on this AVS page-popup ad) is a teaser ad that states a brand new 3D movie will be available with a Panasonic 3D TV purchase. They are actually advertising Avatar 3D without mentioning the TV's strong points at all.

Thanks you for your input, there's a reason why I put fair in "", because its not really fair at all, its truly anything but, yet if you had to pick your poison without looking at the tv prices, post-date honoring is at least an attempt to piss on people and call it rain, while the other companies are just pissing on people and saying enjoy the view. Please bear in mind i'm a Sammy C8000 plasma owner so I am not partial to Panasonic at all.

YES! My point exactly! instead of trying to further better the technology to surpass their competitors products, while still being in a competitive price range, they would rather continue using the success of a high-grossing movie to justify your purchase and provide talking/selling points.

You wouldn't want something for free that you could turn around and sell on Ebay for $500? Seems reasonable.

I know you're against Avatar (hating something that everyone else loves makes you THE coolest) but I also know from your posts that you love 3d... and you can thank Avatar for being the main reason 3d technology is being adopted mainstream.

I do not hate AVATAR. It is unfortunate that it came out that way. And for me it is actually an advantage since it will not be a competitive 3D content to what I am going to produce which is fully realistic and geometrically undistorted 3D.

I do not care for making US$500 of AVATAR.
I will be happy making a dollar from selling real 3D content.
