Most of the 80's 3D movies (JAWS 3D inc.) were not shot using a dual L & R eye camera rig like the 50's 3D movies were. They used a beam splitter with a single camera so the L & R eye images are recorded within a single 35mm frame with each image using 2 perfs

This is the Arrivision3D camera they used to film JAWS 3D

I would be very surprised if Universal doesn't follow this with CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON next fall (Oct 2012).

Of interest, Amazon UK now has bluray 3D placeholders for DIAL M FOR MURDER and HOUSE OF WAX.

Sony has had their two 3 Stooges stereoscopic shorts and THE MAD MAGICIAN available on the PSN, and MISS SADIE THOMPSON has been ready as well.

Other classic 3-D titles are also being worked on.

The Jaws 3-D version is pretty cool. I still have an old bootleg copy that supported the old stereoscopic glasses. These are the ones you had to hook up to the tube tv. The two wow moments in 3d was a fish head and a severed hand. They both seemed to float a good ways out of the screen.

HD Movie Source are still taking pre orders, pretty pricey for a real crappy cataloged movie.

For a second I actually thought the thread title meant the original Spielberg Jaws was getting a 3D conversion (similar to Jurassic Park 3D releasing next year).

There is no current release date for JAWS 3D. Nor is there any current news about it even being released in the future.

Just a note . . .

JAWS 3D was one of the 3D movies that was shot in the ArriVision 3-D format:

"the Arrivision 3D technique uses a special twin-lens adapter fitted to the film camera, and divides the 35 mm film frame in half along the middle, capturing the left-eye image in the upper half of the frame and the right-eye image in the lower half - this is known as "over/under". This allows filming to proceed as for any standard 2D film, without the considerable additional expense of having to double up on cameras and film stock for every shot."

Amazon has Jaws 3 - 3D listed as being released on June 14, 2016. It shows 3D under special features so we'll see. Only watched this once and that was in the theatre when it was first released. Remember it as a bad movie with good 3D. Be worth a purchase just for the 3D.

Here's the back cover from the Amazon site. Decent price.

Need to verify if it is really 3D or mis-written. The movie is Jaw 3, not Jaw (the first movie).

My fingers are crossed that this'll be a 3D release. I'll buy it just for the nostalgia factor—this was the first 3D movie I saw in a theater.

Same here. I still remember that fish head floating out towards me at the beginning.

The rear cover artwork on Amazon states the 3-D version requires a 3-D TV, 3-D player, compatible glasses and high speed HDMI cable....I think it's safe to say it will be a Blu-ray 3D version.

I wish they would include at least a reversible cover with the original title, but oh well. Apparently people got much dumber in the last 33 years and now can't understand the JAWS 3-D title! (it's not Jaws 3 or Jaws 3 in 3-D...it's JAWS 3-D!) I've heard that even the flat version in the recent 3 pack of the sequels has reverted to the proper JAWS 3-D title card in the opening credits. Earlier 3-D video versions had altered the on screen title to read JAWS III.

This actually aired on CBS once (as JAWS III) and they edited all the 3-D gimmick shots out! I've caught parts of it on cable over the years and they were still there.

Anyway, I'm glad I will finally be able to retire my field sequential 3-D version after 25 years. The recent JAWS 3-D DCP was a lot of fun to see at the 2013 World Expo III; it looked better than the film did in theaters in 1983 even though there were a few alignment issues they could have easily fixed but didn't.

Does anyone have the actual cover? The one on Amazon is not the actual cover.

The original one-sheet poster art with the actual JAWS 3-D title as posted above should be the blu-ray cover. They could at least do a reversible cover with it.

What makes you think the cover art posted on Amazon isn't what they are using?

The one for preorder from Amazon appears to be just the 2D version as 3D versions will have 3D included on the upper bluray statement on the front cover. Though there is a statement on the back about 3D versions, I don't think this preorder includes it.

The Bubble 3-D does not have the Bluray 3D sign on the front , side or back cover. I still hope it is in 3D, I pre-order.

Yes, the Jaws 3 Blu-ray includes the 3-D version as a bonus feature.
