Having not been impressed with the previews at the theater of Dreamwork's "Rise of the Guardians " I passed on seeing it in a theater. After hearing some good things about it and seeing it was only $19.99 on sale I brought it home to enjoy on my 3D TV.
WOW....was I suprised how beautiful the animation was and how well thought out the use of 3D was in this film. There is great use of pop-out and wonderful action sequences of flying and fast travel of every kind.

I even really liked the story and unusal characterization of the holiday spirits. All in all a really enjoyable film made WAY more enjoyable in 3D. It's to bad this picture was a financial failure for Dreamworks. I thought this was a great family picture but I guess it was precieved as a little kids film by the young adults who make up the audience for most animated features and make a hit out of slapsick junk like the "Croods." (Sorry Dreamworks) It's sad that quality doesn't usually equal profits in show business. So we'll get less "Rise of the Guardians" and more "crood" like humor in the future. I don't think anyone farted or belched during the whole running time of "Rise of the Guardians ."

Anyway, now we can enjoy this animated holiday treat (the Easter Bunny and Santa is in it) at home on our 3D set-ups anytime we want. I'll being using parts of this film as demo material when friends come over. Give it a chance as this is 3D animation at it's best.

It has Santa with dual wielding swords! There's something you don't see everyday.

Rented it on Netflix and liked it. 3D version happened to be on sale at Best Buy and I bought it. Yes, 3D is fantastic and surround sound is great too especially with the Pitch black character.
