I would like to add two or so more clips per segment if possible.

As far as the menus go, I'm waiting for some "very nice" home theater pictures from a member so I can render these for 3D and use them as backgrounds.

There is progress being mad, just at a very slow pace.

Thanks for the offer DeepSky, I'll send you a PM.
I'd be interested in this disc as well

Ok, I think I am close to being able to help out but I need some guidance.

I now have DVD fab with the 3d ripper / copy apps , as well as TsMuxer. But all of the 3d capture settings seem to involve encoding , and even when I try that i get an instant error when the disc starts spinning up. The 3d options for files are Mkv, ts etc , not the native file of the 3d disc.

Ts muxer has a lot of options and is a little daunting , not even really sure where to start with it or what steps in this process it should be involved in.

Make Mkv sees the 3d layer of a 3d disc now , but I don't know if the mkv's it makes retain the 3d info.

I haven't used it in a year or so, as far as I know from then, DVD Fab just did reencoding but not MVC. I think makemkv is the same but it does offer full frame packing now. You'd need a MVC encoder in order to finalize clips for Blu ray. There might be a way to separate the streams, I haven't looked into it, might be easier and then send them on to superleo.

So to at least get started - is it tsmuxer that creates the clips ?

It might be possible to use mkvmerge and cut the scenes where you want them, problem is I'm not sure when it remuxes if it will retain the 3D flag. I would suspect that it wouldn't. Maybe superleo can get back on this. Only other way would be to use an NLE but that would mean getting two separate streams to work with first.

I'm not familiar with DVDFab, however, if it's ripping with out encoding then all it should be doing is extracting the files to a container -- MKV, m2ts, TS, etc. The files contained should be a h264 (m2ts), MVC (3D) and a lossless (audio). If these three files exsists then it is a true 3D files regardless of the file extension. Scenarist needs the elementary data streams, so technically shouldn't matter the type as long as we can demux to elementary streams.

You can try ripping a file and then use TsMuxer to check and demux the elementary files if needed. You would need to use the newest version of TsMuxer which recognizes and demuxes MVC files.

All I would need is the cut scene, in any file format, m2ts, mkv or ts, but regardless of file extension (container) it must have all three files -- h264 (m2ts), MVC (3D) and a lossless (audio). If it only has two files, h264 and an audio file then the file is just a 2D file.

If you can help providing the 3D clips, I'll do the rest.

Help in any respect is very much appreciated and welcome.

You can PM me with any specific instruction -- to keep the subject that some people don't like -- if you know what I mean -- out of public conversation.

I'll see if I can test it today with scenes from David Attenborough's programs, I have all 6 of his 3D features. There's some very nice 3D scenes in each of them.

So with this method you don't need to reencode to MVC since it still retains the original MVC container, correct?

The idea is to use the exact same copy as the original, but cut to a shorter scene, so the clip used in the demo disc would be identical to the original -- other than size.

If the extraction software is truly just extracting (ripping) then the file is identical to the original file. Hence it will have the three files needed to be 3D inside a container file, be it m2ts, ts, mkv, etc.

Encoding would be needed if we are converting something NOT already into 3D to 3D. I'll be encoding the backgrounds for the menus from a 2D to 3D. There is currently a free MVC encoder if anyone is interested. However, the clips will be identical to their originals -- NO encoding needed.

Ok, I didn't have time yesterday but I tested out a few methods this morning. DVDfab doesn't do anything in keeping original MVC format. It's basically (still) if you want to view your 3D content in SBS format as it's always been.

Makemkv will retain original MVC flag and full frame packing but useless for playback outside of your blu ray player, accept in Stereoscopic Player for Windows. I used that with tsmuxer and was able to get a clip going. Or you can just use tsmuxer and target the disc, either way it works easy enough.

So I have one demo file ready. 01:41 intro to Galapagos 3D, I'll see if I can get demos of Kingdom of Plants, Micro Monsters, Flying Monsters, The Penguin King and The Natural History Museum Alive, if you want them. I have about 50 3D blu rays now. I'm leaving all audio tracks in, some have 2 ch and 5.1. Let me know if you need one removed. I don't know what other ones you're including so far or let me know what you're looking for that I might have.

If you're interested send me a PM and I can get them up on my server. If you have a max time let me know for each demo. I'll probably keep mine around 2 mins or less.

Unless it has changed, I couldn't get DVDFab to rip pure 3D MKVs.

Well, I guess I can formally announce the 3D demo team. As I mentioned before, we will not have a specific DOA or any concrete timeline, the intent is to get it done.

The guys contributing -- dfergie, oleus, tomtastic and Deepsky4565. If anyone else has the resources and/or willingness to help please let me know. We appreciate and welcome your input, comments and suggestions.

Working on Avatar right now, anyone have a particular scene they wish to have included? I didn't really care for the movie itself, the 3D was alright, that's about it for me on it.

The Scene early where Jake is separated from the others till he jumps off the waterfall rocks in 2D... The Scene with the "ascended"(jelly fish like)? had good pop out at the theater, would have to watch again to see how it looks at 65" or 110".

We'll get a new thread when the disc is ready, and all the information will be there.

As with the other demo discs, this one will be available as a FREE download also.

I only have few 3D disks but I can also try to help with some clips if needed.
Do we have a pre-determined list we need?
