Latest movie worth watching in 3D?

Thought I create a review thread for current / upcoming movies that you have watched and worth the money for 3D ticket prices

Particularly interested to know for "How to Train Your Dragon 2" which is currently showing and upcoming "Transformers: Age of Extinction", both shot in 3D.

I'm waiting to book them tickets.

Thanks.

At all of my local theaters sadly 3D is all but dead.
IF they show something in 3D its in the smallest theaters.
Really it was never very good in the big theaters as they use those awful 2D/3D screens making everything look awful.

The real IMAX at Navy Peir is the only place for an excellent experience. Or my theaters
I plan on seeing The Edge of Tomorrow in 3D at the Imax this weekend.
Poor reviews of the movie but good things about the performance of both picture and sound.
Will report back.

Where I am it has received rave reviews and I too am looking forward to seeing it in 3D.

90% of critics liked it and 92% of the audience liked it as reported by Rotten Tomatoes -- that's not too bad in my book.

Not sure what you are talking about as EoT has been reviewed very favorably in general as DejaVu pointed out.

JVC 3D: Been there, done that, bought a DLP

We thought it was alright, added depth, I read reviews that claimed it was blurry, to much motion etc... didn't find that the case at all.

CinemaBlend's 3D or not 3D is the only online resource I'm aware of that analyses the 3D quality of current and upcoming movies. It's occasionally controversial(always scroll down to the comments)but I usually give it a peek before buying tickets.

The big problem is...clearly everyone is not seeing the same thing when it comes to 3D. I've read a few rave reviews of 3D I thought was weak, and vice versa.

For me...the last good 3D I saw in a theater was Amazing Spider-Man 2. The first Marvel flick yet that I thought was enhanced by the 3D.

My wife and I saw Amazing Spider Man 2 and Xmen DoFP in 3D recently. Spiderman was in a Imax and was quite impressive visually. Xmen was at a Real3D theater and was OK.

We are going to see HTTYD 2 on Saturday evening. I didn't even know EoT was in 3D until I read this thread, and apparently its in Imax, so I'll try and swing that too.

On the home front, There have been some really solid 3D films for free (with HBO/Starz) OnDemand. This month we watch Man of Steel, Pacific Rim, and Journey 2. All looked great streaming. Not all were written great . . .

I thought How to Train Your Dragon 2 and its 3-D was quite good.

I have to agree with you about different people seeing different things when it comes to 3D. Me? I'm an easy sell. I've seen a lot of 3D and only felt let down quality wise by a couple of 3D films. For me 3D simply turns my movie screen into a window and helps pull me quicker and deeper into the story.
dfergie and old corps like this.
