I paid, I think, around $25 on release day.

I do get where you're coming from, NorthSky, no worries. But oftentimes, even with films like this that don't push the 3D very hard, whenever I watch the 2D version (at a friend's place or wherever), I always get the nagging feeling that something's missing. I tend to watch all of my 3D titles in 3D any time I watch them. That's just me.

I'm the same; always 3D first.

And as we all know; not all 3D Blu-ray movies were/are created equal. ...And the same with all Blu-ray 3D movie reviewers. ...From all over the WWW (World Wide Web).

Oh my! I haven't purchased a 2D Blu ray in years. I rent them at Red Box and thanks to my friends advice here, I now rent strategically, Blu Ray titles for under a dollar with the coupons and specials.

We started to watch the movie again last evening but in 2D. Didn't get 10 minutes into it and switched to 3D, it does much better. I only did this to make sure I could give the 2D version away and not regret it. I'll watch the bonus content before handing the 2D copy off, however. Have to get my $$ worth.

I still recommend people wait for the less than $20 price point to own this.

It went for $18.99 at Target. with an exclusive digital featurette. Probably won't be at that price again.

wasn't that the Target sale on Sep 9th? I was out of the country that week but got e-mail ads. It was 29.99 for the full set with 3D and 19.99 for the 2D disk only. You can still find references to the Target sale with a Google search. Also, apparently the exclusive feature bonus was missing according to some reports. I didn't see any prices lower than those except for DVD.

@ the end I guess it's worth what we're paying for; ten, twenty, thirty, forty bucks.
He/she paid $20, he/she paid $30, ...who's happy, and not? ...For the movie experience. Is money part of our emotional impact? ...Part of the "unreal" movie experience.

We're funny, us humans, with our monetary values...

you're too philosophical! Once I decide I want to see or have something it is all about the money, all the time. But I'm not going to quibble over a few cents. The difference between $20 and $30 makes me take a second look. If the cheaper one requires another 2 months wait, then I may pay the higher price. For movies, I also consider whether it will be a one time view of multiple view and then rate the title against the rental price. Shelf space is also a real cost here. I rent most movies.

I did go back to the 2D disk and watched all the extras, except view with the chit chat. I may do that later when I have nothing better to do. The other extra features were nothing to write home about. I will say, they confirmed that most of the action stuff was done by the stunt doubles except for Anthony Mackie who seemed to do more stunts on his own.

If it's not worth the money for what I'm getting, then I won't buy it, plain and simple. *shrugs*

Disposable income FTW, I guess.. lol.

With discount, it was $18.99 for the 3D/BD/Digital combo during the first week of release. Best Buy had a steelbook 3D version as well, but it sold out of every store in the NY tri-state region the very first day! It's true there was a snafu with the Target exclusive feature but it was resolved quickly (although I still haven't accessed it myself, as I rarely bother with digital copies of anything. Even most of my UV codes remain unused.)

I disagree with you Don, on this one. For me it's not about money, but about art, well done films, with true quality message value content, and then picture and sound (3D and 2D).
It does count between $20 and $30, but very minimally; when I want something, in the now. ...Even a car, or a new girlfriend; money is secondary, much more secondary.

Special features I simply don't have the time, but I appreciate them for some flicks (LOTR EE Trilogy for instance).

So many films so little time.

You miss read what I wrote. You are selecting among all things the product you want based on the art. I said the same thing. I said ONCE I SELECT WHAT I WANT TO BUY, then its all about the money... That means once I select the title and package, like 3D of Captain America, I then search for the best price. I won't pay $49 for a title at Best Buy I can buy via online for $29. But I might pay $30 from a vendor I know and trust, vs $29 from some unknown. There'd be no difference in the item, just the price.

I believe you said you insist on buying locally or not at all. I open my market to the world as long as I get a good price for the same product. Now with a region free player, I don't care if it is region restricted. It really is a non issue. Say if Frozen is available for $50 in the states and $35 delivered, overseas but a different region code. I would pay the lower price as long as all else is the same. Hope this makes more sense.

But I said "in the now"; like impulsively, @ the moment. ...That's the main difference.

Sometimes some of us for some products we take the time to shop around, @ other times we simply don't bother.
@ the end we always end up @ the same spot; in that sweet spot, that MLP chair.

* I got you perfectly clear. ...It's all about time, ...then money.

Mea Culpa. I do a lot of research on items costing more than a few $$. This Captain America one I missed many of the sales I'm learning now, but my excuse is I was out of the country until the 17th. I did check in here a couple times while away but spent most of my time online at expensive wifi rates trading stocks. When I got home I ordered a bunch of titles, including 6 rentals.

Yep, go on some kids forums and all they talk about is the best price they paid for their Blu-ray movies.

Anyone else find Captain America Winter Soldier just too fast for 3D?

I have a passive Sony, most of the film seems fine, but the shaky cam fight scenes seem a bit off

Just picked up the 3D/BD/Digital combo steelbook at Goodwill for $2. Perfect condition! I'm thrilled to watch this in 3D.
