The Great Wall 3D Blu-ray

THE GREAT WALL 3D/2D [Blu-ray] [2017]

Region: B/2
Number of discs: 2
Studio: Universal Pictures
Release Date: 12 June 2017

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06W9KJHTX
https://www.zavvi.com/blu-ray/the-gr.../11411575.html

Since this is Universal Pictures it should be region free.

Edit: Confirmed region free. See posts below. The above amazon link sometimes redirects to your country's amazon site complements of VigLink crap that just results in a not found error. You may need to copy and paste the URL to go to the UK site. Don't use your browser's copy link address as this also seems to mangle the URL. Or you can just search for B06W9KJHTX.

The 3D disc has EN AC-3 TrueHD/7.1 Atmos.

Amazon and Zavvi haven't provided audio details yet and I haven't seen anything elsewhere. Hopefully they will update their site.

Monsters and 3D. Chocolate and peanut butter. Some cool use of color. Looking forward to seeing it.

So this is another title that didn't get a US release. Least it gets a Blu ray 3D somewhere.

This line intentionally left blank.

It does suck we dont get a version but you are right at least we can buy from somewhere. It def looks like they are trying to phase 3d out on blu ray to push 4k.

Do you have the 3D bluray? Or just see it at the theater in 3D?

I watched The Great Wall in 3D last night--rented off of Vudu. I thought the visuals were outstanding. Clearly meant for 3D with lots of popouts. I ducked 5 times The storyline is ok with lots of action, but the visuals are complex and "wow." I will definitely get the 3D bluray version. The one downer, was that the 3D seemed to be aimed at a 16:9 screen, so many times the "coming at you" effects would go off screen top or bottom too soon to really enjoy them. I suspect that seeing it in IMAX 3D would have been ideal. This movie really shows off how far CGI has come over the past 10 years. I can't imagine wanting to see this in 2D after seeing it in 3D.

I rented it on Vudu, but I did order it form UK and it's on it's way here. I will let you know, but I think it's region B and yes it is in English--that I know.

@steelers1

I suspect it will be region free as it was released by Universal Studio. My copy is estimated to arrive July 4 from Amazon UK.

I got the Steelbook from the UK ( a HMV exclusive ) this Sat. I haven't checked if region free. I will try it tonight and post what I find here.

Nothing in this posting/signature really means anything in the long run.

steelers1, The 3D and regular blu-ray play fine on my Region A PS3. I played about 15 minutes of both discs without an issue. So likely they are region free.

The only bummer is like 4 or more ratings logos on the discs. I don't like that but I tolerate it for the sake of the 3D.

I don't have a region free player either.

I watched the 3D Blu-ray from amazon.co.uk yesterday evening. The box doesn't seem to have a region label but it played fine on a region A player (North American).

The story was basic. The 3D and imagery were exceptional. There was some great use of negative parallax that fit well with the action. I can't imagine not watching this in 3D. (Viewed on a LG OLED E6 65.)

Watched the Russian version, with my family last weekend. Best E-Bay $20 with shipping included, that I have spent on a 3d disc !! Three generations watched it, including my mid 80s father and mom, wife, and 12 y.o. daughter. A few watchers jumped off their seats during one scene ! ;-)

Pop called me the day after to thank me for the great dinner, but that it was his favorite movie in a long time. No, he did not fall asleep like some recent movies.

Very colorful, nice CGI, surround enveloped the room with frequent panning. {I only have a 5.1 setup, as the wrap around couch is placed against the back wall. But the Atlantic Technology bi / dipole surrounds had everyone looking around and laughing a few times.

Not Academy Award plot or acting but a wonderful action / sci fi flick ! IMHO :-)
