Holy cow does this movie deliver 3D. I prefer it than the 4K uhd version. I have been going back and forth between the two and 3D is superior version IMHO. I hope they release more this way. 4K and 3D combo is way to go... You hear that studios ... I'm willing to fork out $35 to $40 so keep them coming.

Ya... that is really crappy of Warner Bros. especially since there is no legitimate 3D disc bluray capacity reason to do that.. But, at least both Kong Skull Island 3D and also Warner Bros. Fantastic Beasts 3D work super after I have been able to remux them... combining the 3D video with the 2d Atmos audio.... and playing on my Mede8er streamer. Thats the way these 3d titles were supposed to be!

How do you remux them?

I also have a mede8ter and DVDFab

I prefer 3D over UHD every time but will buy the 3D/UHD combo pack if available.

In the past I used eac3to to extract the video, audio and subtitles from a blu-ray disc and reassembled the parts as a mkv file using mkvmerge from mkvtoolnix.

I assume you are suggesting much the same and as much as I own a 3D version and an atmos version I assume it is legal to use my discs as I want.

However, can you write some directions or point me to directions?

IMHO if you have an LG e6p or the like King Kong: Skull Island in 3D pulls the viewer into a manic, Obsessive-Compulsive roller coaster ride. The movie is a master thief of ideas from other movies and a mash up of Kong meets Apocalypse Now, meets Godzilla and so on. If plot matters to you prepare to hate the movie for the plot line is silly and doesn't have any veracity. Skull Island has a number of competent actors but I think John C. Reilly steals the show from the other real hams. Take your bathroom break and get a snack before hitting the play button.

Feel free to opine otherwise.

Really enjoyed this in the theater, and grabbed this as soon as I could. It does a really nice job with the 3D.

Amazon's Kong 3D just dropped to $30.
Put me in this camp. Anything above $25-$30 is a hard buy for me.

I ran into a super cheap copy of Skull Island 3d which I'll have coming soon. Didn't care much for the film when I rented the 2d, but great audio track. Curious to check out the 3d.

Agreed this is an accurate and funny commentary but I would add that everyone should see Kong Skull Island. The movie is a great spoof like The Fifth Element but without Chris Tucker's annoying, demeaning depiction of a sissy. And don't expect a Fey Wray beauty and the beast plot hook. Skull Island is a fast moving, silly adventure romp.

I bought the steel case version with the 4k, 3d, and regular bluray. Maybe this set is the one with defective 3d? If I hit menu, the menus are in 3d, but th movie itself is as I'm watching it normal blu ray. Can anyone else with my version in the steelbook say it works?
This has happened to me-

If you are watching a 3D movie on your 4K UHD player that is setup with "auto" or 4K in the resolution settings, it may be upscaling your 3D bluRay 1080p to 4K and sending that to your 3DTV. Some 3D TV's will not permit display of 3D when the inbound signal is 4K. The TV will default to 2D. So, when I try to watch a 3D movie on my 4K player, I have to go into the settings and limit the output to 1080p. Then the Tv will recognize the 3D. That is a PIA so I just never watch 3D BR disks on my UHD player and only use the OPPO BD93 for 3D disks.

If you only have one 3D player and it is a UHD player, try to change the settings to lock it to 1080p output only. See if that fixes your problem.

Thanks everyone for the reviews. I have it coming in on rental. Hope it is OK for 6 and 10 yr olds. Have the Grandkids over for the weekend. Don't think it is worth a purchase, however.

On these best buy (or any) exclusives, after a period of time do they become available everyplace? I keep a list tracking 3D discs at blu-ray.com and usually wait till the price drops. I have purchased more than 100 this way. Not in a hurry because although we love 3D I decided a couple years ago to wait to watch when I get my home theater done someday. I'm wondering now if i'm missing out if I don't snag some while I can? Is there a pirates of the caribbean movie like this? Also is there a list somewhere of 3Ds that are only getting released outside of the U.S? I'm probably missing out there also, Thank's
