Kong: Skull Island

Amazon has the 3D plus Blu ray for 37.00 and Best Buy has the 4K with 3D Steelbook for 34.99 exclusive. But it seems it's out of stock online already after 4 days???

Now I'm not sure whether to order the Amazon one for 37 or wait to see if BB gets more in stock...

The Best Buy Steelbook was a Limited Edition...Chances of finding one will be very difficult unless you look on Ebay.

Don't pay 37 on Amazon put it in your cart and wait/watch. It's normally 29.99 it's been fluctuating between 37 and 29

Yeah, I saw them on eBay, they can keep those for what they want for them, even 37.00 I'm not going to pull the trigger, just too much for a movie.

I have the BB combo pack, the 3D is excellent in this movie and enjoyed the presentation better than the UHD HDR counterpart.

only issue is the 3D was not ATMOS so I had to remux the 3D BD MVC file with the 2D BD ATMOS track and now it works perfect.

The BB KSI steelbook sold out quick. GOG2 combo steelbook is out there now for pre-order, grab it now before it disappears.

If this is what they're doing with 3D, limited editions and inflated prices then 3D is pretty much done. 30.00 is about my max for movies. Maybe they'll release these again at some point with more realistic prices, if not: oh well!

I was going to preorder the Kong BB exclusive a week or so before release and it was already sold out.
Amazon's Kong 3D just dropped to $30.

Just another reason to use camelcamelcamel to check on prices. There is even a plug-in (extension, add-on, etc) for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari the "Camelizer".

Absolutely invaluable.

Nothing in this posting/signature really means anything in the long run.

I just bought the 3d version - there isn't any combo 3d/4k packs in Canada. Since I have 3d equipment and not 4k equipment, 3d trumps 4k. I would get the combo pack if I could, but it was US only.

UPON VIEWING KONG: SKULL ISLAND..I found the 3D quality a 4 on a scale of 5...Sound was good..Skywalker Sound processed. Disappointed on the 3D version...Seemed some scenes were good 3D and some were not...Guess the post production was asleep..

Anyone else?

Just saw it in 3D from the Best Buy steelbook combo pack and I'm disappointed. There was hardly any 3d in it at all. You can take them glasses of and still watch the movie, that's when you know nothing is being added. I should have just watched the regular BR for the atmos. Funny, even my gf at the end said, "I thought this was 3d?"

Are you sure you used the correct disc and that your tv recognized it as 3D? While there wasn't a lot of pop out, there was a lot of depth to the picture. I certainly could not watch it with the glasses off and it not be blurry.

Yes, about the only thing I saw 3d was the menu lol. Even got the confirmation when u lick the glasses on and ask if by the TV.

I have never tried licking the glasses, maybe that was the problem?

Maybe you have a bad disc? I will check it out again tonight.

Haha. "CLick". On the go typo. I don't know about bad disc, that would be the first. Don't even know what to compare it to since I know no one that would have the 3D version. If u can give me a specific scene I'll rewatch it and see if it's there.

Just watching the first scene there is extreme blurring of the picture without the glasses on.

Again, not much popping out from the screen but very good depth.

The scene where they first go to skull island has really good picture depth and is quite impressive.

Not sure how you could watch it without glasses unless there is something wrong with the disc, tv, blu ray player or your eyes

Scene with the giant squid and Kong was really good too. This movie is a showcase for 3D.

Ok, something has to be wrong with my version. I put the disc again to test it and I can seriously watch it without the glasses. Which version of 3d set are you guys watching it on? I bought the steel case version with the 4k, 3d, and regular bluray. Maybe this set is the one with defective 3d? If I hit menu, the menus are in 3d, but th movie itself is as I'm watching it normal blu ray. Can anyone else with my version in the steelbook say it works?

Ok, update!!!! I decided to pop the disc in the PS4 and wow it works!!! Now I can see 3d, and remove glasses and it's blurry. You are right, the 3d is amazing!!!
What gives? The oppo 103 doesn't want to play the 3d? I watched the Great Wall in 3d and it worked. What could it be?

Did you maybe change the setting on the oppo to disable 3d?

Try another 3d movie?

Yes, I said I tried the Great Wall and it worked, but I tried something someone else said on other forums and worked like a charm. Start the movie from a chapter at a random place and it worked. Then go back to chapter one. Thank god. Now I have to rewatch it!!

That is weird.

I have a 103 that I will try out tonight. Do you have the latest firmware for the 103?

Yes, I installed it 2 days before I watched it I was wondering if maybe that caused it. That really is a weird glitch. And apparently isn't the first dis to do that to some players.
