I called them. They seemed very hesitant and reluctant. Possible, but probability very low.

If anyone in the Houston area is looking for a deal on the 70 inch Elite, someone returned one at the Best Buy store in Spring, TX and had it on display there. This is one of the smaller (non Magnolia) locations. I was there picking up some stuff And asked how much for it out of curiosity. The employee said they were letting it go for $4K. You may even have some wiggle room to negotiate (albeit probably a tiny amount more). Set looks brand new and doesn't seem to have any stuck pixels. Just thought I would help out a fellow AVS member on the lookout for one for a bargain price. It carries the warranty, has the remote, and two 3D glasses. As a heads up, if you call and ask about it, you may get a mixed response of them knowing its there because the first TV rep I talked to on the floor didn't even know what Elite was until yesterday when they said they got the TV returned. I'd pick it up myself but I already purchased the Sharp le844 80 incher. Hope this beautiful set finds a nice home. Good luck!

FOR SALE - Definitive Technology CLR3000. PM me if interested.

You should mention that this is highly YMMV. Was it the BB in Danbury, CT?

I would bite if I could get it at that price (even after tax included)...my local Best Buy stores in NYC won't come close to that price

Can't you drive down to Danbury, CT. I have confirmed that they are willing to sell from that price if you can walk into their store. They can even ship the order to your local BB store so they can deliver it to your home.

I got a 70 elite display model for 4700 plus tax at our local best buy magnolia who's folding up. Working perfectly and i love it. However, after reading this thread on how much other are getting it at an amazing price i am beginning to get sour on this tv. The one i got has been on display for long maybe a year or so from the time it was available at best buy.

What do you think guys? Is it worth keeping at this price or return it and get a brand new one? Please help me calm my thoughts...biggrin.gif

There is no guarantee you'll get the prices mentioned in this thread.

Sharp

It's not unusual to get buyers remorse at this price point.

Regardless of how well it performs, if you can't get around the buyer's remorse then you should return it.

Samsung 64F8500, Panasonic 65VT50, Oppo 95, Tivo Roamio for OTA, Dish VIP722, Marantz AV8801 preamp, Rotel Amps, Atlantic Tech 8200 speakers, Seaton Submersive HP, Calman 5, Chromapure, Accupel DVG-5000, i1Display3pro, i1pro2, eecolor colorbox.

I still have a month to decide. My real concern is how long will this TV gonna last since it is a display model. If it pass 5 years without problem then i think i'm good but who knows. Any idea on usable hours of TVs like this?

I see a general price drop, esp the 70” Elites. Everyone is getting a better deal.

Does this mean the 2nd gen of Elites are near?

What do you guys think?

Is it better to wait to see if the 2nd gen will incorporate the IGZO display, or is this best pic we’re likely to get till 4k resolution?

The million dollar question. I am waiting , I prefer the 80 elite , if not , then I'm perfectly fine with my Kuro. (for now) If you always wait for new tech or the next best thing you are always going to be waiting.

I was told August we would hear more, now its CES......hopefully its before then. But I am not so sure its new a model or BB's closing and high inventories or hard to move products they are dealing on. Time will tell....

Just so you know, I've ordered a 60 elite then changed my mind for a 70". However they had none left in the west coast warehouses. It might be true that new elites are coming. Btw it's strange that east coast stores are doing these great deals. They might be trying to deplete the stock. Regardless I have 45 days for an exchange or return. Thus I am happy with my purchase.

Call BB in Danbury, CT. You can place an order on the phone and get a really good deal. Talk to Rachel, Anthony or Lionel. Tell them about the group buy deal in avsforums.com. They'll help you out.

I second that. I told them I have a friend who got it for 5300 at their branch and asked them if they can price match. They did, with free shipping. If you’re not satisfied, you can return it within 30 days at your local BB.

Yenal,
I see that your from Irvine. If you don't mind can you tell me how much did you get your elite 70 from BB, Danbury? Did you use BB card? Lastly, are they willing to ship to Ca?

Regarding the Danbury store, does the price indicated above include sales tax (shipping was mentioned, but not sure about taxes)?

I bought the 60" for $3750 + tax. They did not have any 70" left in CA warehouse. They ship directly to my house. It's no different than buying from your local BB and I did not use a BB card.
