My local area BB stores have a few floor models left in stock, but thus far do not seem very willing to budge on price.

The best offer I have is $5299 for a returned open box. I prefer this to a floor model. Another store went to $5500 and wouldn't budge.

For any of you that have negotiated these fantastic deals, is there any specific verbiage you're using to achieve this?

I have the itch for this tv (currently own Sharp 70" non Elite) but I have a hard time going way above where I know the ZT60 will street. If I could do $4K, I'd pull the trigger. $5K is tough to rationalize.

Thanks

I am not. I am going with being in the right place, at the right time. I was just looking around, at happended to see it. It was marked at 5999.

I asked the salesguy that is the correct price, he said no. I said would they take 3999, thinking no way in hell they would. He walked away, came back, and said they would. So, I figured they definetly wanted it gone, so after much haggeling, and money off since they didn't have the remote, got it for the price stated.

I would go back, and see if they could do better on that price. You could always state that you really don't want to have to bring it back, but the price is just a tad to much. They would rather have some of your money, then no money at all.

This evening in Plymouth Meeting, Pa at the Best Buy Magnolia they had two open box 60 inch Elites. One was priced at 3399 (Good condition) and the other at 2699 (Fair condition) - had all parts even though site says it is missing things. No 70 inch Elites to be found.

Serial numbers are 211817101 and 108811941. Not sure which is which.

And they are firm on the prices.

for some reason

they seem to be more willing to negotiate on these on the East coast

its like every "deal" I hear about is in that area

while in the midwest....they still have NIB inventory at the local store and they are priced at $6500 for the 70".....mad.gif

I wonder if the east coast is down to their last ones and they feel the need to blow them out?

It is based on two factors. Inventory levels, and the traffic each store sees. If a dealer has lots of traffic, they likely won't have to get very aggressive to move through their supply. Stores that see less traffic often take steeper discounts in order to take advantage of what customers they do receive. The more inventory they have the deeper they go. Since the east coast sees the highest amount of sales, they were likely left with a majority of the remaining inventory.

I was able to purchase a 108xxxxx serial number 70" floor model from a local BB/Magnolia today for $4300. It is in perfect physical condition with all manuals, accessories, etc.

I saw a 60" and a 70" Elite -- both floor models -- at the BB/Magnolia in Midlothian, VA a couple of days ago. The 60" was plugged in and running and the 70" was not.

The 70" was definitely an earlier production run. I don't know about the 60", but I'd bet money it was also older. I think I saw it there at least 6 months ago.

I didn't ask pricing. The fellow I was served by was neither helpful nor knowledgable.

Might be an opportunity for someone....

Just picked up a 70" Closeout 108xxx serial @ BBY/Magnoila for $3999 and cannot be happier, negotiated the price down thanks to rmmcdaniels and gtbdevs prices paid above. They took all of the NIB accessories, glasses, manuals, etc. from a 60 they had sitting a few feet away and gave them to me.

One interesting thing is that this BBY had one about a month ago and then sold it before I could get there, I suspect they are transferring them in to this store from other Magnolia's in my city since they are more likely to sell here given it's a more affluent part of town (this store also had a huge open box section in the front of the store.)

Cheers AVSForum members for guiding me where to go with my purchase, now off to the Owners thread to get this thing tuned up...

Are you talking about the one in EB, NJ? If so, bargain with them and get that price down some more. It has been there almost a month and they have already dropped the price from $5, so I am sure they are ready to move on it to just get it off their sales floor.

I live in the Chicago area and have found a few BB's that are offering the 60" and 70" elite, open box. I've seen $2999 at the Tinley Park and Elston (Magnolia Design Center) stores. I've seen the 70" for $4599, with the ability to get it for about $4199 from the Elston store. Hope this helps for those in Chicago if they want one of these.

I bought the 70" from the Elston store last week for $4000. It had all accessories new except for the stand which had some minor surface scratches. That didn't bother me since I'm mounting it anyway. They wouldn't budge on the price once I got it down to $4000. It was tagged $4400. $400 off was good enough for me.

Picked up the 70 Open Box for $3300. Took some work to get them down, but they went for it.

Told me it was the last one left in the Dallas Metro.

Super Excited!

Just picked up a brand new Nov 2012 Elite for $3500 from the West Nyak, NY Best Buy, still can't believe it. I'm near Hartford, CT, and the above post inspired me to call around locally and try to find an open box left of one of these to replace my 75" Laservue. I was getting discouraged and having no luck until one nice BB employee offered to look in the system for me at other stores. He said there were none in CT at all, open box or new. I asked if he could check MA and NY for me... he found on 'excellent' open box at the Union SQ Manhattan location for $4300, then saw another listing for a brand new one at the West Nyak store. He said it could be a mistake but I should call them to make sure. So I called the store and they confirmed they had it. I asked the price, waiting for $6999 or $5999... but the lady came back with $3500!?!? I basically begged her to hold it for me, it was pathetic really... borrowed my friend's Yukon XL and made the 100 mile drive to the Palisades Mall. Apparently it was a custom order from another customer that was refused, so it somehow got returned to their store a week ago. I guess they really didn't want the TV and had idea what they were going to do with it anymore or how they would sell it. They didn't want to have to open it, then sell it as a display model, so we both made each-other's day with my purchase! Got the TV home and setup now and it's amazing, basically a brighter 70" version of the KRP-500m I have in my bedroom now. Sometimes determination pays off.

I walked into a local Best Buy in NH tonight. They had one 60x5fd hanging up on the wall out of reach. The Panel is in like new condition. It was only missing the accessories. I used that to my addvantage.. After negotiating for an hour, the manager said.... $1,699.99!!!!!! ...There is NO Sales Tax in NH! ....I said wrap it up! ........And to think, I only walked in to purchase a Blu Ray movie! smile.gif
