BB can't but other's can. That's really fair.

As large as BB is, I think if they ignored Sharp and just did it, there would be little that Sharp could do.

Samsung 64F8500, Panasonic 65VT50, Oppo 95, Tivo Roamio for OTA, Dish VIP722, Marantz AV8801 preamp, Rotel Amps, Atlantic Tech 8200 speakers, Seaton Submersive HP, Calman 5, Chromapure, Accupel DVG-5000, i1Display3pro, i1pro2, eecolor colorbox.

why not?...as long as Sharp is getting paid their share then why do they care how much markup Best Buy adds (or takes away)?...it's not like Sharp is losing any $$ by letting the Indiana store sell it for less

That may be true (that Sharp somehow called him out on it) but the set can still be had for that price. My guess is more that Sharp objected to the method of drumming up sales rather than the price at the end of the day. If its even true

I tried a number of places for a 70" Elite and it came down to Cleveland Plasma or the BB in Indiana where I talked to both John and Chad. The BB price was $6500 including shipping, which if you take into account Reward Zone made it neck and neck with Cleveland's price.

However, Best Buy had the exact TV stand I wanted and gave me an additional discount on it that was better than the prices I've found both locally and online for it. So that put them over the top for me.

The price of the Sharp LC-70LE945U with local dimming has been announced. $4499.99
Not sure how it will match with the picture quality of the Elite, but it might a good alternative.

Yup. Little doubt that the 80/20 rule will apply here...and then some.

should be interesting how it compares to the Elite...85% of the quality at a much lower price point sounds good to me

then again I'm curious about the upcoming 2nd gen Elite's as well...either way Sharp will have no choice but to drop prices on the Elite's soon

What's the going price for the Elite Pro 60 and 70 now? I was over at Bestbuy the other day, and they have the 60 listed for $4999 and the 70 listed for $7499.

Should be under $6k for the 70" at the competitive places...and mid/high $4s for the 60".

Yup. BB showed it for 5900 locally here. However, When I was at the store every item they scanned was cheaper than the displayed price. The picture looked amazing on the Elites. Makes me wanna get rich so I can afford things like this lol.

Wow I hadn't realized that BB had gotten that aggressive on the Elites (not that I've asked). Where is local for you?

I read in this thread that the best price for the Elite 70 inch seem to be 5999$.

Did someone was able to find that deal in Canada? If not, what was the best price found yet? I live in the Ottawa region but can buy from Toronto or Montreal.

Thanks for your help,

Eric

Call them both, shop price if you wish.

Robert is a bend-over-backwards, old-school guy who will do whatever he can for you.

Chris is a straight-shooting, high-service, gives-a-damn businessman who has developed a top-flight reputation here over several years.

I don't see how you go wrong with either of them.

There is no difference in HDMI cables. If you can see the picture without visible dropouts or sparklies, the cable is working at 100%. No other cable will display a better version of that picture. You're simply wrong if you think there is a better digital cable than one that is already working.

Which BestBuy has the Pro Elite 70 for $5900? I would buy it without a heartbeat. I called Cleveland Plasma about the 70, he wants $6800. What's VE? Do any of you guys have the phone number for VE? I would like to call and see how much they want the TV for.
Thanks

Does anyone have the best # for Robert at VE? I am so happy to have finally made the decision to buy instead of wait. I went to CES to see, but anything new will not come out for a while and they are only expecting OLED in 55", which obviously is not big enough. I am getting too old to wait!

This is one of those purchases I would stick with a known vendor like Value Electronics or CP

I'm not sure it matters if you are buying out of state since if there is a problem with the tv you will be dealing directly with Sharp. Anyway at the very least it's a negotiation price with VE or CP

be careful though...

"The 7 day defective exchange policy does not apply to TVs 32" and larger, any oversized product(s) shipped via our motor freight company (not UPS/FedEx), appliances or receivers. If any of these items are deemed defective, they will be covered exclusively by the manufacturers’ warranties, and you must contact the manufacturer for any repairs"

the price is definitely the lowest I've seen but not by a huge amount...I'd honestly pay the $200 more and buy from a more well known retailer just for peace of mind...if it was like $500+ less maybe I would give it more consideration but as is it's not worth the risk for me
