Hey everyone, I'm looking for a good LED tv for our new apartment. I would prefer a 46" or higher. I was looking at a 42 inch Lg Infinia on Amazon but I saw it in store and its a bit small for our living room.

1. Budget : 1000 and under(budget could be stretched a lil)
2. Seating distance: 8-9'
3. Size/placement limitations: N/A
4. Uses and sources: Mainly watching blue ray/xbox
5. Room lighting: Low to medium

I'm not savy with LED Tvs or TVs at all haha, but we watch a lot of blue ray and want the best for our money so any help will be appreciated.

I am headed out so I can't add much right now but here's something worth mentioning...

What looks small in the store will look much larger in your own home!

Is a 42" decent for our living room?

We had a 46" in my old apartment it was an older samsung. Also I took a look at the LG Infinia 5600 and the New Samsung's in Best Buy I like the glossy finish on the screen, but since i don't know much about LED vs I don't know how to figure out which one are the better.

I have the LG 55LW5600, bought it for around $1300. The 47" 47LW5600 can be found for under $1000. LED-LCD 3D 120hz

Something else to keep in mind. I have a 55" Sony Bravia and while initially it looked large for my room I now wish I'd have gone bigger. I would have gone 70" if purchased today. I know this is outside of your targeted budget however my point being go as large as you can now and your eyes will adjust to the size.

For under $900 you could get a Samsung 51" PN51D550 plasma or a Panasonic 50" ST30 plasma - excellent picture quality.

See if there LG8500 goes on sale for cheap again. A friend of mine just got a 46 for $1100 brand spanking new. Best of all. It blows most TVs our the water at a much higher price. Kills everything in the 1K price range.

I'm a die hard LG fan, BUT, you can find the Sony 46NX720 for $999 right now. I've said it before, that is a superb set and it's fully loaded.

We have the LG 47LW5600 and love it. Great colors, great off center viewing, great blacks w/local dimming (high), also no reflections with the matter screen.

Many are getting this TV for under $800 with good negotiating. The TV does come with 4 pairs of 3D glasses.

You will need a minimum viewing distance of 8' to make the 3D work correctly, but 10' - 11' viewing distance is ideal.

Father in law has his 47LW5600 at 8', its ok but a bit to close at that distance. His room is small so he doesn't have a choice.

Good luck

Most sites claim that is more than enough room. Is it the TV?

Where are you negotiating for this tv and that price?

I've read the tv is amazing in 2D, not very good/borderline bad in 3D. Agree? And I am seeing this tv in the $1500 range at Best Buy

Sorry man, there is no one best brand. Everyone is going to have their own favorites. You'll have to some research and figure out which brand and model has the features you want in your budget.

P.S. That is a question for the regular LCD forum, not the "LCD Great Found Deals" forum. Start a new post in that forum asking your question with more details about what you are looking for.
