Vizio tvs have no quality IMO. They cant touch Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, Sharp or even Toshiba.
They got famous and do sell well but also have tons of ppl complaining about there models. I use to sell those tvs a couple years back. Had quite a few returns.

Since I don't know the price range of that Vizio, I couldnt tell u what tv is in that range.

I know Frys have had Sonys 55" NX720 model going for $1100 and there 46" model for like $900. Pretty much one of the hottest tvs ppl r trying to get since they were some of the last tvs still around to get.

The new 2012 tvs should be 2-3 weeks away.

Wow...great prices. What will prices be like when the new ones come out? Are they closer to retail? Is this a good time to pick up older models? Or should I wait till it's closer to the new season for better deals?

The deals r on now. Once they r gone, deal is over. So far only Sonys new models have been listed and prices been confirmed.
I know the NX model will no longer exist with Sony. They will only do BX, EX and HX models. The NX model just becomes the HX 750 or 820, I forget which.

I just got an XVT47SV from Tiger as a refurb for $650 shipped.

I can say a couple of things. First, the PQ is outstanding. Deep blacks, excellent uniformity, no visible defects of any kind, calibrates to near perfection across the board. As good as any consumer display I've ever seen.

Second, there is currently only one source of actual data for reliability of TV brands, and that's Consumer Reports. In their reliability survey of TVs purchased between 2007 and 2011, 4% of Visios have had serious problems. Most mainstream brands were beween 2% (Panasonic) and 5% (Samsung), with the worst at 10% (Mitsubishi).

Draw your own conclusions.
