I thought the 90" Sharp was a 10K product?

I found two stores on the web claiming to sell them for well under 6K. Are these prices for real? The one store also had a nice 65" LG HDTV with LED backlighting for 1.5K.

How can they do it?

I would not go anywhere near that store or site. Website looks fake. If you look at the web address bar there are two l's. There are also two s's, but only one in the name. Addreess on the website does not match the registrants address according to who is. Site was created on 8/4.

This is their contact info:

http://weissretaillstore.com/

Weis Retail Store

26300 Cedar Road # 2210
Cleveland, OH 44122-8137

Tel: (216) 647-0094

E-mail: sales-team@live.com

Hours, 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.
10:00 am. - 4:00. pm., Saturday - Sundays
It is not NYC or New Jersey or LA, the usual addresses for scams. I would not order until someone at AV ordered first and posted the results. Heck, even I could afford a 90 incher at these prices.

I did a Google for "weissretailstore.com scam" and got nothing. Maybe someone out there knows a better scam finding search method.

There are also six other websites using the same server and IP address that are owned by the same people. All of them have weird names and spellings. I'm sorry but I don't trust first time posters on something as big as this.

He/she accessed AVS from South Africa. Whether he's really there or not doesn't bode well either way. smile.gif

They do this to get the original poster interested. A lot will question, but a few will buy. You can tell its a scam by clicking on the paypal button after adding an item to your cart.

wait, I got contacted by a Nigeria business man who seems really nice and told me that he had just won 37 billion Nigerian dollars in the lottery but couldnt collect it because his cow had died and needed to mourn his loss. But if I accept it for him, he will give me 29 billion Nigerian dollars as a reward for being such a kind hearted person. I only had to send $4057.09 to him via western union to make this whole thing happen. I am sitting by the phone waiting for his call to tell me the 29 billion Nigerian dollars has been transferred to my bank account to which I gave him all of that information (account number, routing number, my social security number, drivers license number, mothers maiden name)

I AM SO EXCITED. I will buy you all 90 inch tv's

I just hope 29 billion Nigerian dollars converts well against the American dollar !!!!!!

I got in th epast emails about 90 billion from the same person, but I didn't move forward as been waiting for above 100 billion proposal.
I'm to lazy to move for less than 100 bil biggrin.gif

on serious note - make sure to get multiple positive references before shell out hard earned money
if price is too good to be true - it usually isn't true

Sorry guys, 29 billion Nigerian dollars = $3.00 in U.S. dollars. Better accept this deal asap because tomorrow it may be worth $2.00.

Ok the 6K price is a scam. Big deal.

BUT is paying $10K for the 90" Sharp still wise?
In my opinion no, as the marketplace is rapidly changing.

At these prices and size its better to only consider 4K displays.
One major benefit is the 3D picture quality should be better than ANY 2K LCD display.

Why?
Passive technology usually halves the 3D resolution, but with a 4K the full 3D resolution will be displayed for the first time.

Summary:
Double the rez for 2D and bright and ghost-free 3D. Sharp (bless their big screens) needs to switchover too. And so too consumer expectations.

If you have to ask..............

Heck no man, i don't know anything about that specific TV but i still see it's LCD, i would get the DLP for much less. It's not like we're talking about a 90'' Pioneer Kuro or OLED.Don't care about 4K but yes another con. NTM power consumption, how much does that thing use?

The criticisims of the Sharps regarding motion artifacting are concident with what I saw last year with the 80" stuff. Based on that I bought the big Mits DLP... the 92" Mits uses a glossy screen so room lighting is important to the experience. At at anywhere between 2 x and 4 x the price of a 92" Mits DLP Rear projection, the Sharp is not that compelling.

Just another blank signature.
