Just packed my E8000 up to return today and stumbled on the 55" ES7100 on sale for $1499.99.

For what it's worth, Sears has had this Samsung TV for $1497.99 since at least Black Friday...

Looks like you may be out of luck on that very good $1499 sale price, as it just went up about $700 to $2199. A salesman told me he could give me the same $1499 price on Superbowl Sunday as it was yesterday on Saturday, but I don't think he will be able to because of the Samsung UPP, despite what he said. But I do wonder if it will go back to that low clearance price when the new 2013 models begin to appear? Interestingly, the good prices on the 6000, 6100, and 6500 have not yet changed.
tylerSC's Avatar tylerSC 04:05 PM 02-04-2013
Interestingly they raised the price on the 7100 but lowered the price on the 7500 and the 8000. But kept the good prices on the 6000, 6100, and 6500 the same. Aggravating because the 7100 was the spec level and price level that agreed with me at $1499. And still mad that I was misninformed about the price change. Should have jumped on it Sat. when I was in 2 stores looking. But now I am forced to wonder if the 7100 will go back to $1499 on clearance when the new 2013 models begin to arrive in stores in a few weeks.

The 55ES8000 is $2200, that's a pretty impressive deal. Open boxed would be closer to $1800. At BB anyway.
tylerSC's Avatar tylerSC 04:50 PM 02-05-2013
That is a good deal on the 8000 considering its price history. But a bit beyond my budget, and I don't like the stand. I think the thin bezel and claw like stand on the 7100 looks much sharper. And not sure if there is a dramatic difference in pic quality between the two. Hopefully the 7100 will go down to $1499 again as they are cleared out for the 2013 models coming in.
kevreh's Avatar kevreh 01:00 PM 02-06-2013
Subscribing to this thread in case they do. Just got the 6900....but would spring for the 7100 if it comes down to $1499 again. Clear screen makes a big difference with color depth and side-viewing angles.

I hope the 7100 goes back on sale for presidents day. If not I'm leaning towards the LG7200

I was thinking that since Best Buy had the Super Bowl ad, Samsung prices went up to try and cash in on increased sales. If the es7100 drops back down to the pre-Super Bowl prices, or less considering the 2013 models will be arriving over the next couple months, i'll be picking up the 60 inch model undoubtedly.

Dang. I see someone online posted about Best Buy doing a price match with Greystone; anyone have experience with this? I'd like to go pick up the 60 inch 7100 tomorrow if they'd price match.
fudsak's Avatar fudsak 07:24 AM 02-07-2013

The price is good but a huge risk. They won't refund or accept returns if your set is defective, they will only accept returns if the set is damaged during shipping. Also, because they aren't an authorized Samsung retailer, Samsung will not honor your purchase and perform any warranty repairs. Samsung price fixes their sets so if you see a good price at one authorized retailer, all authorized retailers will have that price. Best Buy won't price match this because they aren't an authorized retailer and because they could lose their license to sell Samsung sets if they sold it at that price.
kevreh's Avatar kevreh 07:46 AM 02-07-2013
Yeah, plus their preferred shipping was $140. Their standard shipping is free but the dropdown on their site says this method of shipping is not recomended!
kevreh's Avatar kevreh 07:47 AM 02-07-2013
Does anyone know or think the price will come down again? Can't believe they would drop it for the weekend but not again.
xjyamaha's Avatar xjyamaha 11:17 AM 02-07-2013
I'm assuming it'll drop again one the new models start flowing in. They did have he Super Bowl ad as well, so the prices may have went up in part because of that. The price was down to 1499 for the 55 inch and 1799 for the 60 inch for over a week, so I can't imagine it not going back down once on clearance. And I would never buy from the Greystone place; I'm not that big of a risk taker.
kevreh's Avatar kevreh 12:00 PM 02-07-2013
When do the new models usually arrive? Will the new models typically be retail? So roughly $800 above those sale prices you noted.
xjyamaha's Avatar xjyamaha 02:14 PM 02-07-2013
I've been told they start arriving the beginning of March and continue through May for he most part. I'm not sure the details about the 2013 models; I'm looking at the 2012 models to save some cash and pick up a great TV. Truth be told, until the 4k TVs and OLEDs start picking up some serious market share and are much more affordable, the current batch of TVs are probably not going to get too much more advanced. I'd guess minor updates over the next few years until the 4Ks and OLEDs are affordable.

I see the 2013 UNxxF7100 basically adds voice control, and a more refined stand, otherwise I don't think there is much difference from the 2012 es7100.
kevreh's Avatar kevreh 04:50 PM 02-07-2013
In terms of price, the Panny Plasma and Samsung LED I've been keeping an eye on have actually come up in price the last couple days (today's 2/7). Sheesh.....its like buying airline tickets. biggrin.gif

I may go back to HHG and see if they will match that Greystone price. They normally have no issue with price matching and negotiating unless restricted by Samsung UPP.

That's what I want to know. I would think they would go back to $1499 to clear out inventory when the 2013 models begin to come in. Perhaps that Greystone price is a preview of the next upcoming weekend sale, and they just jumped ahead by a day or so. Because pricing on this model is supposed to be regulated by Samsung UPP price control. Unless this Greystone is just a scam. But will be watching through the weekend and days ahead.
tylerSC's Avatar tylerSC 07:30 PM 02-07-2013
I see where Greystone is not an authorized Samsung retailer, so that explains the unauthorized price. Would not order from them. And doubtful that HHG would price match. But hopefully the price will drop again soon at the official retailers.

I dont get HHG. Agressive sales people, too many different products, too few options for each product. TVs here, blenders there, excercise equipment over there. meh

Unlike Best Buy, HHG sales people are commission based and therefore may be perceived as more aggressive. But in the past, they were more willing at HHG to negotiate price. But their selection is a bit more limited, as for example they do not carry the 7500 at HHG.

Well the price has not yet changed but they did put the 46" version on sale this week for $1299.

Actually, I picked up the LG 7600 and for the money I think its a better deal then the 7100. Definitly a step up from the Samsung 6900.

Meh, the LG 7600 @ $1400 is a better deal than the Samsung 7100 @ $1500? I think active 3D and Samsung Smart hub is worth an extra $100. I also personally prefer Samsungs PQ and Allshare Play software over LG's. But that's personal preference.
