Just ordered one. It blows away any other TV at this price range.

Bought a 47DT50 three weeks ago and was very happy with it, except the light black levels, lack of local dimming, and lack of advanced calibration settings. DT50 is exactly the same as WT50 except lack of local dimming, dual core CPU, and advanced calibration settings.

My ONLY complaint is the red, bright power indicator light. It cannot be turned off and is very annoying.

Can't comment on Smart TV or 3D since I never use these functions.

This TV is easy to adjust. You can easily tweak the picture to your liking. But I must say that 10 brightness and 25 backlight is way too dark. I have 52 brightness and 30 backlight for movies, 40 for night, 55 for day, and 80 for games.

Color Management enhances some scenes but makes some scenes look oversaturated. I decided to turn it off. I wish I could have advanced controls for color management.

AI Picture is same as local dimming in this TV. If you turn it off then local dimming would be turned off as well.

Also, make sure to turn off C.A.T.S. and any other ECO energy saving. These features automatically dim the screen.

Thanks! Yeah I did a bunch of tweaking last night and my brightness is about 50 and backlight is about 40 i think. I like the AI picture as it seems to add shadow detail without greying the blacks.

I actually turned the CATS on last night when watching my Game of Thrones blu-rays. My room was pitch black so I didn't need the brightness and I liked the look of the darker screen for that content. I imagine I'll only use it when I'm watching movies late at night though.

Overall excellent TV and so glad I jumped on the deal while that window existed. The color and detail is a large upgrade from my Vizio and was really liking the smart features. Now I just have to figure out how to get all my devices to play nice so the audio is running through my receiver and video into the tv. Probably need to upgrade my receiver now tongue.gif

I have a Yamaha V371BL receiver. It is awesome. Hooked up my PS3, XBOX, satellite, and PC (all by HDMI) into the receiver and ran a single HDMI cable to the TV. The new 373BL has YPAO (automatic sound detection and optimization technology) which might help.

If you want to upgrade your speakers, I would recommend:

Sony SSF-5000 or SSF-6000 floorstanding speakers
Polk CS10 center speaker
Yamaha SW215 or SW315 subwoofer

I have the SW315. It is wayyyyyyy too overpowered. At 25% volume on the unit and 40% volume on the receiver (so about 8 or 10% of its maximum power) it shakes my chair and deafen my ears. To match most speakers, SW215 will suffice.

By the way, we happened to own the last batch of Panasonic IPS-Alpha panels. Starting in 2013 Panasonic will buy LCD panels from LG and retool its factories to produce OLED panels. That means we might see cheap OLED TVs very soon. (Panasonic's OLED uses a printing technology. Once mass production reaches a certain scale it will be very cheap.)

Nice, yeah I have an Onkyo from 4 or 5 years ago that is DTS-MA and great but only has two hdmi ins. Trying to see how I can make it work as is since the wife is still recovering from me dropping the money on the tv and a new router to handle the extra devices. I have that Polk CS10 speaker and an Energy Sub that kill right now. Need to upgrade the other speakers at some point.

So how does your receiver pick up the audio from the Smart apps? Do you run an optical out of the tv? That is what I think I'll do but not 100% sure it'll work. The apps on the tv I also have on my PS3 and Apple TV that run through the receiver right now so it's not really an issue but it would be nice to maximize the potential of everything.

I never use smart apps but I did make their audio work - when you run the cable from receiver to TV, plug the cable into the HDMI port that says ARC (audio return channel). Then any sound from the TV will be sent to the receiver.

Sony SSF-6000 is worth a look if you want to upgrade speakers. They are on sale by Amazon for $117 per pair. At this price they are the cheapest tower speakers. They are not the best, but their cost/performance ratio is off the charts. Until I can afford $1500 per pair speakers, I will keep them.

Sweet. Looking into it I think a new receiver is in order. I may take you up on the Yamaha but the updated 373. I found a pretty good deal on some floorstanding Polks but I think it'll go with the receiver first to simplify the setup.
