This is about the lowest price I've seen for this TV. The $2098.96 is thru Video & Audio center via amazon's site (still free shipping). Alternately you can buy it from Amazon themselves for a few bucks more ($2106.49 at this moment) and then you have the luxury of a 14 day price match policy.

If you want it I suggest moving quick! The prices have been fluctuating a lot for the past 24-48 hours.

I know this is irrelavant at this point, but I'm kicking myself for not taking advantage of this deal yesterday. Frys had this TV for $1699 and they were throwing in a BD player and two pairs of glasses. Why didn't I do it??!! haha

Was just going to post something about this one. Fry's is having a lot of fantastic 1-day sales. They usually don't print the name/model of the TV's, but if you look at the features, and compare the advertised "original" price with what is listed on the frys website, you can usually narrow it down pretty quick.

I DID pick this set up (first customer in the door ) and it is fantastic. But a word of warning. They will deliver the TV to the front of the store for you and help you out to the car. My box looked brand new, but as we picked it up we didn't go 2-feet before I heard a clunk. Seems the remote fell out of the box!!! I insisted on a new one when we opened the box and found it was a customer return. Clues are: new box has the plastic banding strapes, and there should be 2ea little 2x3 black plastic hand holds on either side of the box (actually they keep the top/bottom of the boxes attached to each other. Take them out and the top of the box lifts off). There was a sticker with a orange border and bar code indicating it was a customer return, but it was attached to one of the inside box flaps.

SACD library.

$1699 sounded too good to be true. I was expecting the price to drop below $2000 after Christmas, but apparently they don't want to drop the price just yet...ughh tough being patient!

Not fluctuating as badly as the panel's brightness.

Price dropped today to $2143. I know that's not an astounding deal, BUT Amazon has 10% off TVs if you are an Amazon Visa Rewards cardholder. The deal only applies to sets shipped and sold by Amazon. Since that deal came out the Amazon (shipped and sold by) price has been $2399.

All said I paid $1942 minus $60 something in rewards points (with free Prime shipping and white glove delivery). I'm happy with that deal and I get the 30 day return policy and 14 day price protection. I'm willing to pay a hair more for that.

For what it's worth, I just came back from Best Buy where I had negotiated the Magnolia sales manager down to $2,000+tax (5 percent in VA) for the 64D7000 with their 3d glasses and Blu ray player package included. This was after I quoted Amazon's price of $2,140 (no package). I am guessing they are either getting more aggressive on moving the old models out, or he just quoted me next week's sale price. He did check the computer, so I think the latter is probably the case.

I also checked on their current best price for the Panny 65VT30 while I had his ear since it is the other panel on my radar and he came back with $2,850+tax and delivered.

Thanks, good to know. I was just in Magnolia yesterday to look, but didn't even ask about the price based on my past experience of Best Buy not being aggressive on price matching with Amazon. Even if you don't buy TV from Amazon, you can still get the Square Trade warranty direct from Square Trade for a bit more. I wonder if you can buy warranty from Amazon without the TV?

You can also buy the warranty from Costco without buying the tv there and the warranty period does not begin until after the original warranty ends.

Excellent. I was wondering about that also. I now see it in the fine print on the Costco Square Trade brochure. My preference has always been to buy a TV from Costco when possible, but of course, the selection is limited.

The combination of price, two-year base warranty, Square Trade warranty for the best price/coverage out there and the 90 day return policy makes Costco an unbeatable place to buy a TV. Unfortunately, they don't have what I want--a 65" Panasonic or Samsung plasma.

But, my credit card (as do most) doubles the one-year warranty, so that part equals Costco anyway. Then the Costco Square Trade will take you out to FIVE years coverage for $100 (or four years if Square Trade starts after the manufacturer warranty and not the credit card warranty).
