I was checking for Super Bowl deals this morning, and noticed that target.com had the 55" Panasonic ST-30 for $999. I could not tell if this was a web-only deal, and it was not in the weekly add, so I ran down to my local Target and they had it for the same price. Online appears to be sold out, but all the Target's in my area had one. My local Target is now out of stock after my purchase. This TV was $1200 there Friday, $1300 at my local HHGregg's, $1150 at Amazon and Sears. Build date on the one I got was July 2011.

I checked my local Target in Cincinnati - they were out but they found 1 remaining in the entire Cincinnati area at a different store - pulled the trigger for $999. Hope I like it. It was between this and the Samsung D7000.

I forget, but it is a July 2011 build date so we'll see what happens.

Is the serial number on the outside of the box so it can be checked at the store before buying?

Depending on how early the Panasonic TC-PxxST30 TV you purchased was manufactured, you might encounter the Fluctuating Brightness (FBr) issue which already has a Patch. To check if your TV has an issue please read the following:

Mine is July 2011, not the fixed serial number but I don't remember if it's 1205, and have not noticed the FBr issue. At some point I need to remember to check the service menu, but I'm having too much fun watching the TV...
