They marked it down another hundred bucks. That's hard to pass up.

Yes, there are two sitting out in the aisle at my local store - brand new in box - tempting...

Wow: that is a remarkable price for 60" Plasma!

If you sit far enough way - say 10ft or more - the S30 should work well.

Even from slightly closer in, it will look fine with good quality blu-ray material.

Alas, the processing & overall PQ on the S30 are not up to the same level as the ST30: at 50" and below, you can largely ignore these issues, but with a 60" panel, and a Less-Than-10-Foot Viewing Distance, even my wife as able to spot the flaws in the S30's display, given less than Ideal program material - including so-called "HiDef TV" programs.

(To be fair, we had a 60" S30 set up next to a 60" ST30, which made the differences easy to spot.)

Couldn't resist. I picked up the last one yesterday. I've seen the comments and pictures on this site about green blobs, pink, etc. but this display is perfect as far as I can tell.
We don't watch much TV in my house and the TV is in a huge room where viewing will be from at least 12' and further back so this set at this price makes the most sense for me.
I guess it's sort of like when you're shopping for a new car. Don't test drive a more expensive car than you wanted to buy because then you'll know how much nicer that car is than the one that best fits your budget.
To me, the picture on this TV is fantastic probably because I've never seen the better displays. I feel very good about getting a brand new 60" 1080p Panasonic plasma TV for $798 + tax.
