My local Sears has a 55" ST30 for $1000 but I could probably talk them down but the biggest I wanted to go was a 50" I wanted to get a 46"ST30 but they were to much. Then I missed the $750 50"ers and thought about getting a 50"GT but nobody has any of these anymore.

I sit about 6' away from my 32" now and could move back to about 8-9' but that is it, so should I grab the 55" or wait for the ST50's and get a 46"?

I don't know where you live but you can pick up the 55st30 at Target for $899.00 plus tax.

You won't see a price like that on the st50 until fall if you want to wait.

I have bought all my televisions late in life cycle at amazing deals. You know electronics....you will always be behind the next year, but unless the tech is dramatic then save the dough.

I am sending back a tc-46s30 from Amazon which I got for $575 shipped to my house NIB. They screwed up and price matched a 42" price!!! Wife says its too big for our bed room. So sending back and bought a tc-p42st30 at BestBuy which I hate due to tax.

So my 2 cents....buy and enjoy now!

Target has that here too but non in stock but I think Sears would match it anyway. Don't feel to bad about the wife the ST's look better than the S's anyway.

How much did you get the 42" for? BB here wants $800 which I wont pay sense the 50" ST30's went for $750

I'm just wondering how much better the ST50's are going to look?

Panasonic tech support told me the ST50 is supposed to have a better picture than the VT30 (opinion was based purely on specs because they haven't seen 'em yet). New features include a web browser (tech claimed there's a chip in the set to support the browser) and 8 speakers. He claimed the technology was better and would stand up longer than the 30. He encouraged me to wait for the ST50. FWIW he seemed sincerely interested in helping me and really sounded excited about the new sets (and he's not in sales!!). I'm waiting for one of the experts in this forum to get their hands on a ST50!

Anyone know if this price is still good at Target in-store? I'd like to get BB to price match that...Not sure how to do that if its not advertised...

$799 at Best Buy, which is no deal but 42" is an off size with low inventories. I think the lowest on this set was in the $600's. Heck if I got approval for more then 42" for the bedroom I would order the p46st30 from Amazon for same price ($848.00) no tax / free shipping and 30 day returns at no cost.

There seems to be a lot more deals on 50" and above right now if you find it and act fast.

Target sale ends the 10th as I recall. Not that they have any in stock.

Best Buy just got in the UT's and man they look better than the ST30 there, a little brighter and better blacks. I'm exited for the ST50's but not so much the price the 50" UT was $999.

Yeah, the 65" 50 series are double what the 30 series are going for. I'll buy a sheet or new blinds for the small increase in brightness. As far as the black level difference between the two, unless you have a meter on it, you are not going to tell. If you say you saw the difference, the 2 tvs were calibrated different.
