Can we anticipate further dropping in price through Jan you think?

It will be a few months. Also, prices will shoot back up to normal.

Though I am an employee of Magnolia Home Theater, the views and opinions I express on this forum are those of my own and not my employer.

Don't quote me on this but it looks like to 60 series will have more features that are aligned with Samsung but haven't read anything about PG and BL's. The new panel should have smoother motion if I understand what I've read. You can pick up a VT50 for about $2500 and 3d glasses for about $30. This panel cost $3700 when it came out. I opted for the $1200 in savings for a bird in the hand that has been reviewed many times.

If you don't mind me asking, where are you finding the vt50 for around $2500? The lowest i've seen is on amazon for $2999. And are these authorized dealers? Would love to know as i'm looking to pick up the vt50 soon. Thanks.

Your results will vary whether they will match that place. I just tried yesterday here in Austin and they wouldn't match it.

That sucks. Will see how it plays out. Going with the 55 I think. So I can snag some speakers and recv. Instead of 65in

What location did you try? I got the Gateway location to price match eastcoasttvs (not on their official price match list), including a 2% coupon code, on a 65GT50 with very little pushback. I think it was 3299, sale price 2799, got it for 2360. A shaved-head manager guy had to come approve it; I saw him there earlier today.

I know it's a different TV, just mentioning it because it was a significant discount, and the price matching seems to vary by location.

Any coupons like that for the 65"?

Edit: Save400 applies to 65VT50 for $2599.99 shipped.

Is the 65 worth 1000.00 more vs the 55in?

Just tried this and got to the checkout page where the order was denied. Will be calling in later today once they are open to see if the problem can be resolved. Will report back later today...

About the taxes from Pauls - "Since we have stores in CA, CO, MI, MA, RI and VA, sales in those states are subject to state sales tax."

For Cali residents BB price match is still the way to go for points/cash back and free ISF ($300) value.

SCORE! I got on an online chat with a guy named John. He said that my credit card was declined for some unknown reason (I'll deal with that later). I gave him a different credit card, and everything went through no problem. $2999.99 minus $400 for the SAVE400 online coupon, plus $10 for California e-waste recycling fee - out the door for $2609.99. Totally painless, and didn't have to go through any price match haggling drama with any Best Buy folks or anyone else for that matter.

John was located in Paul's corporate office in Irvine, CA. I'm located just up the freeway in Huntington Beach, and he did not charge me sales tax (despite Glashub's comment above). I suspect that they rely upon the buyer to pay the tax on their income tax return, but either way, I didn't get charged (which was indeed a surprise to me).

Free White Glove Delivery, with the first available date on Monday, although I will be out of town that day, so I will likely take delivery on Wednesday.

This forum is great!

ETA: I don't know how long this offer has been available, but John did say that the deal was ridiculous and that they were moving a lot of units as a result. So if anyone out there is on the fence (like I was), I think your two choices are to either pull the trigger or wait to see what the VT60 looks like in a couple of weeks at CES. While it's possible a better deal may be found, I don't know if you'll be able to score this price from an authorized dealer with no price matching hassles.

FYI.

For those like me, who bought 65VT50 from Paul's TV for a higher price than what it is today ($2,599), they are honoring the 30-day price guarantee. So, reach out to them.

I ended getting the 65VT50 for $2,599 (no tax, free white glove).

Thanks for the link to Buytvtoday. BB matched price $2549 for 65VT50 here in Cali no questions. In fact very nice and helpful. Pauls is in same parking lot and would have been next stop.

IMO BB is still a little better. Tax savings about 200 from Paul. Puts Paul price at 2409. I paid 2549. Get 81 back from points. Get free ISF (300 value) but some don't want ISF. We all got good deal. But the Paul's deal hardly smokes BB when you break it down.

They may have stopped it stacking, but earlier they were running a "we pay the tax" promo that was stacking with the coupon.

My number breakdown is base don this - "I gave him a different credit card, and everything went through no problem. $2999.99 minus $400 for the SAVE400 online coupon, plus $10 for California e-waste recycling fee - out the door for $2609.99."

You all got a great deal from Pauls...less cash out of pocker upfront. But the BB deal is not far off and if one takes advantage of the free ISF and it is good ISF then BB would be the better deal still. That's a lot of "if's" around the ISF granted. Put another way, I paid $2759.00 out the door. Get $81 back in cash or coupons puts it at $2678.00. Then this has a market value of about $300 which is free to people who bought 65VT50 - "TV Calibration – Having an HDTV is one thing. Having it personalized to your exact needs is another. Our ISF-certified installers will come to your home and calibrate your HDTV so you're seeing it the way it was meant to be seen."

Which means I really paid (since I'll have them come out to calibrate) about $2378.00 at the end of the day. Again though the BB ISF will probably suck.

I just pulled the trigger on this deal. To good to pass up for someone looking for a 65". I noticed too that the price is back up to $3500 on amazon.

I too pulled the trigger on the 65VT50 from Paul's for 2599 net. I went to my local BB to give them the opportunity to Price Match. To my surprise, they flat turned me down even though Paul's TV is on the list of authorized retailers that they will match. They said they would match $2999 but would not honor the $400 coupon! I'm very frustrated because I wanted to give my local BB the business and was willing to pay the extra sales tax (8.25% here in TX).

Despite what I'm sure are some great BB employees out there (including Speakerphile, who posts on this thread), I'm not a big fan of BB as a company. That includes not wanting to roll the dice on a calibration from their Geek Squad, regardless of ISF qualification.

I was prepared to pay the 7.75% sales tax here in OC, but was pleasantly surprised to have it waived (perhaps for the stackable reason noted above).

And I do intend to have the set calibrated by Dave Abrams from Avical when the time is right (bundling with my Pio Plasma at the same time), so there is an additional cost to the whole shebang not noted in the pure purchase price.

But at the end of the day, when all of us (or at least most of us) in this thread are looking purely at how to get the VT50 at the cheapest price with the least amount of pain, this was a no-brainer for me.

Slightly off topic, but since my posts above, I have looked into 3D glasses and see that Sears is now out of stock. What's the next best option out there?

I'm not going to get in a pissing contest about this. You win....by $68. My point was/is that Tolken called it a "let the hounds out deal" and it's a good one but not one where people should stop the presses and try to return thier BB deals for the Pauls deal.
