Update, call all the Best Buys in NJ, spoke to like 5 managers, check the inventory of any left new VT50 in warehouse in Pearth Amboy, there is 0 left, NONE!!!!! I'm not sure how true or real this is?

They are going to let it go for $1600 instead with 4 samsung active glasses, delivery, taxes included, and receipt is going to be listed as NEW.... There is a 2 inch scratch on the stand, which I can live with. I'm creative, so either gonna wrap the stand with some Chrome/ Glossy Black, Adhesive they sell in AC Moore or use my g37 paint code platinum graphite pen to fill it in jajajaja. No scatches on Glass, litt'e scuffs in the frame, no biggy. so the total time of tv up was 2,126 hours of use and 204 power cycles. Went to set the tv to clear all passwords in the master reset, did the white clear burn ins, played Dark Knight WOW. I told them to bubble wrap the hell of the TV for delivery, and cover the GLASS with something. Lets c how it arrives.

Last word of the manager....... My friend, you are NEVER going to find any better deal on a TV like this, if you want i can get you the $2300 ST60 model, which is no way in comparasion to what I sold you.

Nice. Congrats.

My Setup:
Plasma Panasonic 65" VT50
A/V Receiver : Yamaha 671 7.1
Console: PS3, PS4
Speakers : Mirage OS3-FS L/R, OS3-CC, OS3-Sat Rear L/R with PB12-NSD Sub

I have a question about the VT50 in general as I got a chance to get a display 65" Vt50 for 1899. 354 hrs and 53 power cycles. I went to check for IR/burn and saw a pretty bad ir on bottom right hand of the screen where the demo video had the dolby digital logo. We ran the anti burn for 15 minutes and i didnt think it was getting any better. I know it will probably take many many hours of test slides to take that out but how sure can I be it will totally remove it?

Would you purchase it and run slides or pass on to the next deal or possibly a 65" ST60?

Any advice or opinions is appreciated.

I wouldn't buy a TV where there's noticeable IR. Because once you see it, you'll be paranoid that the particular panel is more susceptible to IR.

But if you can get rid of the IR first to make sure absolutely sure it's not permanent, then it becomes an easier decision given the price. Try the "Pixel Flipper" from the Disney WOW! calibration Blu-ray and run that overnight on the panel. It's been reported to be much more effective than the pixel-washer on the TV. And IR that is stubborn can definitely take much longer than 15 minutes to get rid of.

Hi guys

I got a 65" VT50 including delivery and taxes for $2650 brand new.
5 year warranty was $250.
There is no free 3D glasses with VT50's. I just bought active shutter panasonic glasses on Amazon. Seemed to have the best reviews.

BB wanted $2500 plus tax on a year old demo and $600 for a 5 year warranty.
The sales guy was pathetic, they wanted to sell it to me without viewing any of its features etc
I would highly recommend not using BB.

If anyone is interested how it got it at that price just PM me. But I was happy with my deal and the pic is amazing.

Picked up an open box 55VT50 at Magnolia with 116 hours and 70 cycles for $1440 + tax. I think I did good. They still had 3 more demos left. not sure on the hours on those. Picked up an OPPO BDP-103 too. Very nice Blu-Ray player.

New member here but an AVS guy for a really long time.

I recently placed an order from BB for a 55vt50 for $1599 but wanted to know if anyone knows of any deals on 65's since my current panny plasma is a 58 but its about 5 years old now.

I am in the Dallas area so if anyone knows of any open box deals or lower price in general that I could be more competitive post up. Seems like most places are officially sold out of 65" vt's unless you find a floor model as a lot of people stated recently.

Thanks,

Hector

Being down there really hinders your options as far as being able to drive somewhere and not have it be a complete waste of time. I'm sure you've already tried but the only place I can think of would be Fry's off Matlock and I-20. There might be a Conn's somewhere as well that would have one in stock.

Picked up a 2012 55VT50 for $1399 (Magnolia, open box) while I was on a business trip. I had to drive this baby wrapped in bubble wrap standing in the back seat of a rental car. It survived unscathed, but is waiting on a TV stand.

Just looking at a review and my remote looks different. Is the remote for this TV backlit?

I have a non-backlit remote with Netflix at the bottom and Power/3D/CC/SAP along the top. It looks like it has most of the same buttons as the image I'm looking at, but appears to have Apps/Home/Input where the remote in the review has Internet/Viera Tools/Media Player. Seems like I'm missing an aspect button but it is likely the "Format" button.

Thanks

Starpower still overpriced and no longer has 65s like many other retailers. I feel like Panasonic cut back 2012 production early this year unlike previous years especially with the zt being launched in 65" it only makes sense to sell a higher priced product. I should be good with my set just maybe some one will spot a retailer less than 1600. Eventually gotta find a deal on glasses but didn't even consider it as purchase aspect.

The original remote is backlit. Looks like you got something else. You should have gotten 2 remotes with the TV. One standard looking back lit remote and a small pear shaped remote with a touch pad in the middle.

Another wonderful Best Buy experience. Called up a store about 30 minutes from me, as they have an open box 65VT50 listed that just might suit my needs. I ask the guy that answers about it...how much and was it a return or display model. He asks me if I'm a customer or calling from another store. I say customer. "Do you have a SKU?" So I gave it to him, and he quotes me the list price. I told him no, the open box you have listed on your website at your store. Get this...he tells me that open box is usually 10-15% less, otherwise he'd HAVE TO GO BACK THERE AND CHECK" eek.gif I tell him I'm calling from xxxx (my city) and wanted to know the price before I drive over there. He's like "Ya...it's usually 10-15% off. We have two of them, so you should come by and see the prices and which one you like better". mad.gif Ya, I should drive 30 minutes to check what you could walk over and check for me right the F now...I just hung up.

Not all Best Buys are like this of course. But I'd get fired if I ever gave an answer even close to that to a customer.

Thanks. Odds are they won't find it. I went into the service menu and found it has 382 hours on it. Given no remote and the number of hours we watch TV in a year already being on the set, I think I'm going to look for a "new" 2012 model

Thanks for the help on the remote,
Mark

382 hours is nothing. People put 100-200 hours on the TV just breaking it in with slides.

I would go NIB 60ST60 instead of a used 55VT50. If you are going to spend around the same money for a used 2012 model it should at least be bigger. Otherwise what is the point? PQ will be pretty much the same.

I walked out at 1489.xx with tax.
The tv was a customer return with 43 hours.
St60 would be 1731 otd
Calibrated I don't think they will be in the same ballpark but I haven't seen 2013 specs tbh.

Anyone have any experience with open box warrenties? I found a Best Buy with a 55VT50, customer returned, and I talked them down to 1300 over the phone. I'd have to drive an hour to check it out, but then I couldn't do the 99 squaretrade warrenty on an open box, could I? BB warranties are way more expensive!

I don't follow. As long as I buy from an authorized dealer, I get the panasonic 1 year warranty. But I plan on keeping this set for many years, so I want extra protection. I know BB does them even for open box, but they are so pricey I'd rather buy new and get a squaretrade warranty for overall the same amount of money. Other than that, I have no idea who might cover open box and for how much, so I asked.
