I have a Samsung 64E8000 now...i have always liked the panny "slightly" better

Should I bite?

Of course this means I would probably have to Craigslist the sammy( which has 3 years of extended warranty left and that I had calibrated)...

Not looking forward to trying to sell a TV like that ...but would if I had to

It depends. Really only you can decide if it's worth it.
We got almost the same deal at BB. Purchased a store display model 65VT50 for $1200.
The anti-reflective coating works well in our bright room.
We've been pleased.
I say go for it.
If you use a major cc, you can get an extended warranty or buy a square trade.

thanks
I looked at the Tv the other day...they had the avengers playing and I "thought" I could see a difference in it and my samsung E8000

Though I like the Samsung...just thought the Vt50 might be a little better

I have to say one of my main issues here is the pain in the a&* factor I see in selling the samsung

Craigslist 65" VT50 for $1200. Good deal? I'm in the process of finding out hours and age.

Possibly, but I'd be *extremely* leery of walking into a Craigslist seller's place with $1200 in my pocket to examine the product...

Edited to add Actually Useful Info: Calibrated, the images on these are stunning. I'm sure they'll be obsoleted in the next few years as the replacement technologies improve and the newer standards are refined and implemented, but for now I think you'll be extremely happy with it if it doesn't have any problems, you have a good feed, and it's properly configured.

Depending on what you're using right now, it could be a huge improvement for you.

Mike

Do you mean because the guy might assault me and steal my $1200, or because I should pay less...

I did find out that he's had it since December 2012 and is the original owner. He estimates 2-3 hours per day usage. I asked what he's upgrading to, and it's Samsung JS9500, so clearly this guy is someone who cares about video and has probably taken good care of his TV.

What do you all think?

For such transactions, it is highly recommended that one consummates the deal in a public place. In fact, oftentimes police stations are used for such transactions, and several local departments even offer their locales as safe places to do such business.

That is at least a 3.5 year old(2012) set with perhaps 5000+ hours on it or more.

I have a 60VT50 and I would pass as the "50" were made in 2012 so you are talking a set that is at least 3 years old and do generate a fair amount of heat. I paid 1600 for my VT50 NEW and delivered.

I am not sure if you get into the service menu whether you can see the number of hours but bring a Chromecast and mirror a Dead/Stuck Pixel app from your Smartphone. And I would bring a Plasma burn in disk so I could see all the gradations of white to black and the RGB saturations at differing levels....

Great set..but at 3 years old that is a bit pricey....

I hear ya tho' they should have never stopped making Plasmas and that is about as good as it gets with the Panny's (GT and above).

Good luck!

Cheers...Greg
