Paul's TV is selling the ST50 for $1099 right now which is a good price. However, I had a promo code that could be entered at checkout that lowered the price to $937...until today!

I know for a fact that the code was working all last week up until yesterday because I checked it again before I went to sleep last night. Does anyone know anything about this? The code only worked for the 50" and not for the other sizes. I'm extremely bummed right now because I hesitated to buy it when I had the chance.

A tipster here on the forums gave it to me. And it did work for all of last week.

It may have been a mistake by Paul's internet department but I at least want them to admit that the code was in place. Waiting to hear back from them now...

Everything's been squared away with Paul's and I'm happy with the way they handled the situation. They didn't allow me to buy the TV for $937, though, which is OK. The markdown was a mistake on their part but I never intended to rip them off or get away with something. Just wanted a fair deal.

BTW, They claimed $937 is actually below their cost for the set. I have no way of knowing this for sure but they seemed to be shooting straight with me.

I just purchased P55ST50 with 4 year warranty. The guy on the phone reduced the price for warranty to 199 from 249. He also added white glove service for free. Ask for David.

(TCP55ST50) Freight Delivery 1 $1,249.99
4 Year Plasma Preferred Service Plan (1500) $199.99
(ESPPLAS4YR1500)

I work for a large electronics distributor and I can confirm $937 is below cost. Unless they have a volume contract with Panny or distribution $999 appears to be under cost as well. Through my companies employee purchase program the two best deals I could get were:

- From work directly $1050 (cost) + 2% + tax and shipping.
- From Panny, through Friends and Family discount $999 + tax and shipping

No brainer to go to Paul's where I paid $999, free shipping, no tax.

Very interesting, considering the Fry's Electronics retail chain had the 50ST50 model on sale all last week for only $899
Also Sears stores had the 50UT50 model on sale for $799 recently too.
Could that have been a so-called 'loss leader' ?

The problem with Fry's is that the price is for one floor model or they have only one in the store. At least that is the case here in Houston TX. Two trips to Fry's and no TV! It is called bait and switch, advertise a product at a low price, say it is sold out and try to switch you to another model/maker.
