I thought I would start a model specific thread, as most of the threads the posts just say VT50 UT50 GT50 ST50 etc.; but don't really state the size.

As of 10/2 18:45 PDT, Amazon has the TC-P60U50 for $899.99 shipped. Your state may vary for sales tax though, mine was 0%

The price is short $100 of their 2% back deal, but $100 vs. $18.

This is the 60" version of the no 3D, no Smart of the 50" that's discussed in the Plasma section.

Seems that this model / size hasn't got a whole lot of interest yet. I took advantage of the short lived Amazon deal - I believe it only lasted less than a day - and will take their "enhanced" (white glove level) delivery on 10-15.

I first became aware of the model walking through a Wal-Mart that had a huge banner touting a Panasonic 60" plasma for $948. They didn't have one at the store on display so I found it was this model from their site. I've been looking to upsize my 50" plasma and stay in the $900 to $1K range and so far the only options over the last few months that I had found were LG models. I have a 42" Panasonic plasma that is 10 years old and have had zero problems with it so I was willing to spend a few $ more for a brand that I have experience with. The fact that Panasonic plasmas also enjoy being on the better side of the picture quality spectrum also helped my decision a great deal. This model got my attention and having it delivered and unboxed and set in place for $900 seemed like the deal to jump on. Amazon's current price for it is $1K and I've noticed that it has an SRP of $1099 so obviously they have established a very aggressive SRP compared to other models and brands. We all know the SRP game and how "they" make it seem like if you're getting 40 or 50% off it must be a great deal. It seems that this model being discounted at only 18% would step outside that formula but I believe that it is a good deal assuming it fits your needs. I applaud Panasonic for offering a bare bones model at a reasonable SRP knowing that the profit potential is reduced for all involved before it gets in the consumer's home. They may be introducing it as a "loss leader" (not in the strictest sense as I don't believe they are losing money on it) in the hope that once bought into the Panasonic family you'll become a convert. Automobile manufacturers have had this marketing strategy forever and I think the same thoughts were presented at the development / marketing meetings for this product. In the end I'm hoping for a display that makes me smile and my discretionary income budget happy as well. People seem to like the 50" version of this and I don't see a reason why the 60" would be any different.
Wal-Mart now has an everyday price of $900 for it but you still have to have a way to get it home and wrestled into place to avoid additional costs.

If you are an EPP member with your company, they have the Panasonic 60U50 for $674.99....but it's currently on back order. Shipping is free and they charge tax but even with that I have not seen a price come close to that for that model.

I've already placed an order for it, but I'm kinda thinking of stretching the budget to get the Panasonic 60UT50...smh, decisions decisions.

I bit on this deal when it was offered by Amazon. It was delivered on Thursday last. My impression has been lukewarm to be succinct. I am no videophile for sure, but the set displays a lot of fluctuation in brightness, which I interpreted to be ABL. The transition isn't smooth as one would expect, but in jerks. Enough to drive me to return this set.

I tried to love it, but this, coupled with a lack of pro settings like AGC and Blackness extension level control, have made me take the return route. If anyone can enlighten me as to what I may be missing, I'd be highly obliged. The service menu was no help, and it's all Greek to me anyway.

I purchased the 60u50 on 10/14 through EPP and am very excited. I've been very happy with my 55st30 and would love to get a 60in "dumb plasma" for around $700.

Has anyone had any experience with buying back ordered items on Pansonics website? Wish I had some clarity on when this deal will go through.

I ended up canceling my initial order for the 60U50. I kinda almost regret it a little because I feel the TV (especially at that price) is a VERY good deal but I just really felt like I would be watching the TV with regrets and thinking "Damn, if I had of just held out and paid x amount of dollars more..."

Either way, before I canceled I called with a rep at Panasonic and she mentioned that it'd probably be at most 2-3 weeks before the TV would be in stock and then it'd ship. This was Monday so Adomis82, hopefully they'll have yours by next week or the week after.

So, Walmart had this for $898.00. We already had a 58" Viera, and have been very happy with it. Got the 60" home, plugged it in and all I get is a horrible buzzing sound. The first time set-up menu doesn't even show up!!! Seriously frustrating. Called Panasonic and their response is to take it back to Walmart, or set-up a service call and wait three to five day's.....

I am considering this set as my beloved 60 Vizio died after 5 years...saw your request for settings. This is what they ended up with on CNET for the 50' version. Maybe not exact but a starting point...

Thanks for the heads up, I ordered one on Tuesday at $898 and I usually check everyday to see if they changed the price but didn't yet today. Just called Amazon and they are refunding me the difference. Thanks again.

Yep, I bit at $798 with no tax and free shipping.

How the heck can you argue against a PANASONIC 60" plasma for less than what we were paying just two years ago for a 50" and four years ago for a 42" and 720p at that!

I bought one today off amazon for 798. Do you think it come down any more this week and on black friday, and will they price match black friday deals. I read in their terms black friday deals wont be matched. They seem like they will be sold out anyway.

^ If it drops in price before they ship you should get the lower price. Right now it is back ordered for shipping in 1 to 3 weeks.

Hi. Samsclub.com has what looks like the same TV but the model number is TC-60PU54 for $798. Is this the same TV as TC-P60U50? Specs look the same but Sam's website doesn't give many specs. Thanks.

I see Fry's Electronics has the 60 inch U50 on a one day sale for $699 today. You can get it online, but the freight is about $140. If you have a store close by, then that is a pretty good deal (no freight charges). I purchased mine there for the same price several weeks ago. Really like the TV BTW.

Salvador, the reason it shows $840 is because its adding the shipping fees. If you have one close by you can pick in person and save the $140. Depending how soon you want it, if you have a Paul's tv near you they have it for $880.
