If it is wall mounted and viewed from a distance I would probably opt for the larger set. This assumes you don't need/want 3D and internet streaming . My unit has no buzzing that I can hear and I don't know what rising black level means. The black level on my set is excellent.

Thanks for your thoughts. I think I'll try and find the 60" if I can. I did hear reports of buzzing and floating blacks on the U series, but not enough to know if it's any more inherent to that series as I've seen buzzing mentioned on just about any plasma.

My local Costco still has this model in stock at $725. I am guessing that is why they haven't stocked the new S64.

This TV is now $649.99 at Costco. I am having a hard time finding a reason not to buy this. I was going to look at this years models but they are twice as expensive and I doubt they are twice as good!

I checked yesterday at ours and it was going for $679.00. I am thinking about pulling the trigger shortly if the price keeps dropping. I would like a larger TV but at this price it will hold me over for a few years. What part of the country did you see if for $649.00 at Costco?

Costco in Smyrna GA (Cumberland Mall, NW Atlanta) has had these for $599 for at least a couple of weeks now. I bought one last night, only one more was left on the shelf (plus the display model).

Killer deal. One fifth of what I paid for a 50" Panny in 2005!

This is a good deal. I see that it doesn't have built in wifi. Is there a cheap alternative to the now expensive Panasonic dongle?
