In terms of PQ and size...

i want a 55inch or 60inch Plasma. Cant decide between Panasonic, Samsung or LG, or which ones eek.gifeek.gifeek.gif My plasma LG from about 4-5 years ago still works perfectly just want a bigger screen.

Budget 1000 bucks.

Whats the best Plasma out there in that price range that i can preferably pick up at Best Buy or Walmart (local store, in case theirs an issue i can just exchange with little hassle)

3d is not a factor
Smart tv is not a factor either (Already have 2 consoles that can do that for me)

What would everyone's suggestions be?

Thanks cool.gif

Give yourself an extra 10% leeway and try for a Panasonic 55ST50.

The only real problem will be finding one for a price you'll pay before it's too late.

If you cannot do that, then go for a 60in of the lowest branch Pana / Sam.

We got the Samsung PN60E550 in August and love it. Crystal clear picture, great for gaming, 3D is spectacular, etc.

Since you don't want 3D or Smart widgets you could get the PN60E530 model. Check Amazon, it's a lot cheaper than you've allowed for a budget.

You could get a 55" Panasonic UT50 for under a grand. Very highly reviewed with quality that comes close to to higher end models. 60" U50 can be found for under a grand also.

Yep. The 55" UT50 is $799 at Costco (online shipping is $100 if you cant get it home) and $849 with free shipping from Bestbuy.com and Sears.com right now. I just got the set yesterday from Amazon (was $899.99 when I ordered, but got $50 refund with the price guarantee) and love it so far.

Wow, only one I saw at Sam's was the 60U50 (I think they call it 60U54) for that price....UT50 would be a GREAT price at $798.

This can't possibly be true or is it? 60" UT50 for $798? Online all I see is the 60U54.

It is most likely the same as the UT50. They change the model number so other stores do not have to price match.

This is the U version, not the UT version, unless somehow all the Sam's Club stores here are offering the U version for the same price as your stores UT version. Where are you located, because I would drive a few miles to take advantage of that deal. But again, pretty sure this is the U version, unless it's a display model etc.

The U50 and U54 are basically the same, with the U54 being the club store version. They are 1080P, but the UT50 adds 3D and Smart TV apps, as well as the 2500 focused field drive, which I believe helps with motion blur. The 60U50/54 is at $798, $799 depending upon retailer.

I see in my email that Newegg has the TC-P50UT50 for $649.99 with free shipping currently (promo code EMCXWVV85 ) .

Seems like a decent price.

Thank you, undermined! Finally pulled the trigger thanks to you. I'll pass the news on to the UT50 deals thread too.
