They stole your VT50?? Don't they know it gets yellow blobs??!!

Seriously though...that stinks man hopefully you can find one. If not pick up a 8500 still a great panel. Just not as good as a VT60.

Well hopefully they sell zero at that price. Then they will be forced to lower the price.

I hope they lose money on it honestly...anyone who would buy a ZT or VT above 4K is just showing off. These should never go past their original MSRP.

I think it hurts there image. I personally think wow they're trying to rip me off on one product how many other items are they going to be trying to. They use amazon high consumer traffic to take a shot at selling it too.

Hey, not for nothing, but there are listings for:
  • (5) 65" VT60s,
  • (3) 60" VT60s,
  • (1) 55VT60

on the first page of the AVS the classified (plasma) section on the first page alone. Perhaps you live close enough to strike a dea land pick one up.

**There are also
  • (2) 60ZT60s,
  • (1) 65ZT60s,
  • (2) 50ST60,
  • (1) Samsung 64F8500

on the first page as well.

ISF Calibrator

Pioneer Kuro Elite Pro-111FD
Pioneer Kuro BDP-320

Displays are like 100% cotton t-shirts. Always buy a size larger than you think you'll need, as they tend to shrink over time.

I understand that but doesn't mean you have to rip off the consumer for a few bucks. Just insane, the VT60 is great but not 5800$ great.

$5800 - $1999 = $3801

Mind if I borrow "a few bucks" from you? I can pay you back, but you probably wouldn't even miss it if I didn't. tongue.gif

Hey guys. I posted a thread a couple weeks ago regarding my frustrations with Panasonics hitting collector's market prices right around the time I was ready to upgrade. After a lot of searching I finally came across some floor model 65" VT60 and ST60s.

I was able to haggle down the VT60 to around $1500. That what would be an incredible deal if brand new but I'm obviously nervous about a floor model plasma that has a LOT of hours on it. It seems in perfect condition otherwise and I couldn't detect and IR/burn-in.

What do people think?? Here is a camera shot of the version menu to give people an idea of the amount of time on it:

That's a hell of a deal for a 65VT60 if you can't find anything wrong with it and it comes with everything. I wouldn't worry about the hours for a second!

Can't believe you aren't posting pics of it sitting in your living room before someone else does.

If there's no burn in go for it. Buy an extended warranty like square trade from Costco with the money your saving.

Thanks for the advice!

Going to cross-post more info I found today:

So I went back and scrutinized this set again today as well as finding another 65VT60 being offered to me at the same price.

Unfortunately, both have what appears to be fairly bad burn-in. The new one I found has about 1K less hours of use on it but they both have an ESPN logo, a line across the bottom from the top of a ticker bar and some faint lines/boxes on the left side that are from a SportsCenter/PTI type show. The set with 1K less hours seems to have less severe burn in that was hard to notice when I had regular programming on instead of the screen wipe.

Needless to say I'm pretty bummed. I know it's impossible to predict but what is everyone's opinion here? Is this not worth it? Is there *any* chance these marks will come out after a couple months, or at least soften considerable?

With that many hours I would guess they are more permanent but they could eventually reduce in intensity after months of normal use. If it's not detectable on normal viewing and you don't go looking for it constantly you may be able to live with it. It's a tough call, maybe they could sweeten the deal abit more show them the image retention. For me it would have to be really good deal to buy it. My OCD would have me seeing it all the time.

Overtime it will fade but may take a while since it was a floor model. I would say cut your losses and grab a 64F8500 before those are gone too

I'd say go for an F8500 as well. I own a floor model VT60 (thankfully no burn-in) but with that many hours, it will take a LONG time to get that burn-in to soften. The F8500 is just as good as the VT60 and has great smart features.

Or you can continue to search for a VT60 worth driving for. Check the AVS classifieds as well, maybe an AVS member is selling a VT60 near you.

I actually picked up a similar set for 1999. I have been running the screen slide for over 20hours now. Going to try the Disney WoW pixel flipper next. I did purchase the hh greg 5 yr warranty plan and the sales rep pretty much told me if i couldn't live with it for the next yr or two, I could return it and get a store credit for what I paid for it.

I still have mine - finally finished setting everything up a couple days ago. Looks amazing but can see some IR at times that seems to go away. Was just looking at it - configuring ARC and testing. When I popped open Netflix I could see ghost images of the apps icons against the red backround of the Netflix splash screen. Didnt notice it last time I pulled up Netflix. Still have time to return. Going to scrutinize heavily over the next few days.

If I decide to keep, what do you all think about getting a 5 year warranty from Sears for 300 bucks?

I can get a 65vt60 for $1450 the only bad part is it's a display model. the build date is April of 2013 I did not check the hours on it ,but I figured it has about 3-4000 hours on it based on how many hours the store is open and days. it does have some slight IR on the bottom of the screen ,but you can only see it on very light/bright scenes. It would be replacing a 57inch hitachi crt tv which has ben great and still work very well (except in the morning when the sun shines in our front room then it's washed out a bit) anyway still on the fence what do you think good deal or walk. also it does not come with the 3d glasses but I really don't care they did take another $50 off from the price they wanted $1499. thoughts confused.gif

If that's within your budget and you're looking for a plasma, then I don't understand the trepidation. Go and get it before someone else stumbles across it (I hope you really didn't need for someone else to tell you that). wink.gif

Once you have it in your home, determine whether the VT's reflectivity bothers you or not.

I just found a 65VT60 floor model, they offered it to me for $2500 including a 5 year warranty. I'm going to go back tomorrow to get a better look at it and check the hours on the set. Any suggestions on a good counter offer.

Why go for a well worn floor model when you can get a model that rivals the Panasonic VT quality, unused for the same or lower price?

Start looking at the Samsung PN64F8500 and leave the overpriced leftovers and the burned-in floor models to someone else.

Here's a couple of prices (that didn't take much searching) on the Samsung...

http://www.eastcoasttvs.com/Samsung-Plasma-HDTV-p/pn64f8500.htm?utm_source=bingads&utm_medium=PPC

http://www.greystoneappliance.com/Samsung-PN64F8500-64-1080p-3D-Plasma-HDTV-p/pn64f8500.htm

You can use these to your advantage if you request some price matching at a local store!

Terrible deal IMO...floor model with prolly a ton of hours on it plus some IR or possible burn in. The VT/ZT were going for even cheaper than that brand spanking new. I say cut your losses, spend some time with the F8500, or wait for OLED to get better (but doesn't seem promising). I would go F8500 route personally, not a huge fan of Samsug but am a huge fan of plasma, Defintely worth taking a look at, plus it's new
