Was it a retailer or a private individual? The California one that is.

It was a retailer and the impression I got was that they were unwilling to ship the television to a location closer to where I live, even if I paid for shipping, but who knows. Maybe the sales associate I spoke to bought it, but he probably would have just never told me about it.

I've found another ZT60 since the last post. There seem to be some floor model/demos out there at retailers who carried the line. I guess it then becomes a question of condition and price.

I spoke to some dude in New Jersey last night that claimed to have 51 brand new ZT60's, but his website triggered numerous scam alerts.

Where in California was it, if you're not interested in it anymore that is?

I'm honestly not sure. I found out about the set from a sales associate at a different location and all they shared was that it was at one of their locations in California. I'll be happy to share the name of the retailer once I confirm it's not an option for me, and I'm guessing it isn't unless I want to drive to California.

Thanks, I looked at VTs very closely and waited too long, now looking at the Samsung F8500, but a VT/ZT at that price is something I really should check out, if it's near by of course.

anyone who pay anywhere close to that has some serious problems.....

So what was the purpose of that message, exactly?

To let everyone know that a ridiculously high price is now slightly less ridiculous?

Well then, thanks?!?

You have to know someone that works there and they can send an invite to your email address. Just checked. Auction ends in about 2 hrs and bidding is under $500. I'd almost be willing to drive from AL for a pick up. Decription says there are smudges in the middle of the screen.

I wonder if they tried to wipe the smudges off, or if they might actually be scratches.

That's crazy cheap. I'm assuming this was a floor model, or a return? If it was IR & damage free, that's a steal.

There are color slides on this site, in the 2013 Panasonic thread, that you can download to a USB memory stick. You can also google Plasma Break In slides and find some downloads. You can then plug that USB stick into one of the television's USB ports and access them via the photo viewer application, or whatever it is called. You can also run the screen wiper that is accessible via the television's Menu, under Picture I believe, to check for IR. The screen wiper is a bit more difficult to use because it's a white vertical bar that scrolls from left to right. You can still use it to find IR, but it's not as simple a static white image on the screen. The color slides are static 1920x1080 images that fill the screen with various colors, which makes it fairly simple to detect IR and/or burn in. Time is the only way I'm aware of to tell the difference between the two. Over time, temporary IR will fade away. Burn in is permanent IR that does not go away.

Looks like they had a reserve to prevent it from going so cheap and it has been relisted.

It is a great set, however you need to make sure there isn't any image retention. We're you able to check out how many hours are on the set? What accessories are included with it as well? At worst you could use it for fourteen day and return it if you aren't happy with it.. JT

That's a little pricey. I paid the same price for the 60" VT60 back in March (not from Best Buy, got mine at PC Richard) and it also had the stand, 3D glasses, manual and no IR.

I would haggle them down and definitely make sure there's no IR. I went to a lot of different places before buying the one I had because they were either missing the stand, had IR or in the case of one I saw, had deep scratches on the screen that actually affected the image (how does that even happen?!).

If all of that checks out, go for it. It produces a wonderful image. I upgraded from a Sony CRT 30XS955 which also had a great picture (one that I wish I always said I could blow up to 60"!) and this was a huge upgrade. If you can, make it happen.
