Interesting. I'm liking this Discover card more and more. Thanks. I may just go ahead and order a ZT60 today after all then.. It will break down like this:

$3199.00
-10% shop discover CB = $319.90
- 5% CB on $1500 for Online Purchases = $75
- 1% CB on $1501-$3199 = $16.99
- $150 CB Discover Signup Bonus = $150
- Discover Price Protection = $299.01

Total OTD: $2338.10

It's exactly $500 more then the VT would have costed me and still more then I wanted to spend on a TV right now, but a great value.. Of course there are no guarantees it will work out the same way for me but I think I'm willing to take the risk. That being said, I will now stop loading up the VT thread here with ZT prices tongue.gif

Speakerphile can probably answer this.

Hell, my Sammy F4500 WAS open box and it still had zero hours on it (buyer's remorse thing I assume).

I also finally figured out what the difference is that I'm seeing between the ZT and the VT, and that's the sharpness of edges on people, texts and objects. On the VT all the edges are just a little softer because of the internal reflection against the front glass. I remember the Kuros also having a ridiculous amount of sharpness around objects and texts but for a different reason which I believe was something about the way they manufactured their plasma cells or some other "cell" related improvement that was always in their marketing mumbo-jumbo. Crystal emissive or some such thing. Don't know if this is part of the engineering tech that Panasonic acquired and integrated.

I am not aware of any reason that there should be hours or power cycles on any of these. Best Buy does open the boxes when delivered to customers, but not before then.

Though I am an employee of Magnolia Home Theater, the views and opinions I express on this forum are those of my own and not my employer.

This is just a promotion by Discover to get you to apply for the card. Basically as long as you spend $750 with in 3 billing cycles of getting the card, they will give you $150 cash back. It doesn't matter where you spend the $750. They offer that OR no interest for 18 months on balance transfers/6 months on purchases. Supposedly discover usually never does this cash back promo from what I read.

AoM has the 60" for $1,724.00 with the coupon code Loyalty15

But, I am kind of wary buying from them. I've heard many mixed things and they aren't an authorized Panny dealer. Wondering if I should just wait for a BB or Amazon drop.

Do you have a Discover card already? I don't want to pry into your financials, but you would need to be able to get a line of credit for that much on the card. You can usually go over some, but if you get a card with a $1,000 limit you are going to be out of luck.

Yup, I applied on Tuesday and received the card on Saturday. $7500 limit so I'm good to go smile.gif 801 FICO score FTW! I also like that Discover now provides a real free FICO score monthly. Pretty cool benefit.

801, nice. My regular Discover card doesn't have that feature, but my Walmart Discover does. I'm at 802 (but this is clearly the high end, as Creditkarma's TransUnion score is showing 763).

Getting a bit off topic but just FYI credit karma isn't a real fico score. It's a fako score (In other words their best estimate of what your real score is). What Discover (and Barclays) now provides is a true fico score from Experian.

Yes, but there are 2 other credit agency scores that Discover is not delivering (TransUnion and Equifax). If I'm not mistaken, Credit Karma does pull the score from Transunion (or so they claim). The "VantageScore" is also a hybrid score that Credit Karma obtains.

We just received our 65" from Abt. Ordered on CyberMonday. It arrived in one piece and has a Sept. build date.

Can I run break-in slides while it's still in the box?

^Yes, but you might want to give it a number of hours before doing so given the frigid temps across much of the continent.

I left the bottom portion in the box and didn't seem to have an issue.  Just need to make sure the remaining plastic is away from the vents.

I did that for a while last year with a ST50. No issues. If you haven't already, remove the plastic film from the bottom bezel.

One of the very last 65VT60's from ABT (that I ordered nearly 2 weeks ago) finally arrives tomorrow morning. I'll post here on the build date that I receive. Hopefully it's all perfect and I'll be able to cancel my Best Buy order. Happily I can also update my Square Trade warranty with this TV as it's the warranty replacement for my 65VT50, more or less. Sounds like the new Square Trade warranties from Costco don't allow you to purchase the TV's from elsewhere. Hopefully I'll be able to turn it on when I get it. I'd hate to have TWO DOA plasma's sitting in my media room.

Which new Square Trade warranty? Are you sure you can't purchase one if the TV is bought elsewhere? I was under the impression that you could still get the 3 years for $99 regardless of where the TV was purchased. This needs investigating.

It's in this thread: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1506348/costco-squaretrade-extended-tv-warranty-now-costco-purchases-only

This is a change to how they've been doing it.

Well, that sucks. mad.gif I'm glad you posted the info. Thanks. smile.gif

Amazon has a 3 Year SquareTrade warranty for $102, but it says from date of purchase. Does that mean it's 3 years total (so 1 year Panasonic warranty + 2 years SquareTrade warranty) or 1 year Panasonic warranty + 3 years SquareTrade warranty?

For those that bought their VT60 from somewhere other than Costco and then the 3 year SquareTrade plan from Costco before they changed the policy is it 3 years total or 1 year Panasonic warranty + 3 years SquareTrade warranty?

Looks like.

I'm not sure if I will go with SquareTrade due to them only providing total coverage up to the purchase price of your item. I don't believe Mack does this.

There is conflicting language on the Costco site.

One part says:

You must purchase the new television from a Costco Warehouse or from www.costco.com.

But down below it says purchased from Costco or any other U.S. retailer.

One place says it must be bought w/in 30 days.  Another 60 days.

Apparently costco doesn't really know what it wants to do.

I just did this, and was concerned as the online signup only lets you put in Costco as place of purchase (got mine on Amazon). I called them, and they confirmed this is OK. I bought the warranty on the 9th, completed signup Monday.

It was still good as of yesterday, as I bought one for my VT60. All was good.
