Does anyone know the amazon return policy? Not for something defective, but if you put hours on it and just aren't happy? For example, if I think the set isn't bright enough for my room or if I have an issue with IR. I am sure they will take it back but is there a restocking fee or return shipping charge?

Thanks, I trust the forum more than calling amazon directly.

Yup, return shipping varies but was around $110 for my 65VT60. No other fees or restrictions that I'm aware of. If there's a problem with the set you don't pay anything but I simply changed my mind so I paid return shipping.

I purchased, then immediately chatted/requested refund... they said they'd issue it and send me a second email... haven't gotten that email yet, but have the chat log saved.
I unfortunately used $38 in gift cards and paid the rest for it with my CC... I think that nullifies my CC extended warranty... anyone know if they can re-issue your original invoice and change payment methods? I'm only worried it may affect my PM...

Actually, my 65VT60 does have plastic across the bottom (I haven't removed it yet) that the energy saver sticker is stuck to - and I bought mine from Amazon Warehouse Deals in "used / like new / pristine" condition.  They said I have until the end of January to return and I bought it on Dec. 10th of 2013.  That was / is the only plastic STUCK to the screen itself.  My unit is a Sept. 2013 build - complete with noise reduction.

Same, I'm awaiting the second email. They said half hour originally, then I came back an hour later to the same rep, who said don't worry the email will come. I'll let you know of I receive it.

Email received. Refund credited. Wow, I was hesitant about getting the TV but ended up biting the bullet. I had no regrets once I put on a blu ray movie, but I am thrilled getting it for $2,000 (not to mention the $100 of credit I received due to CEVA's f up). Thanks for keeping the thread updated all.

My nib 60vt from amazon had plastic tape across bottom of bezel and the energy sticker on the bottom right too, nothing else. July build date. Very quiet set!

dangit. bestbuy policies only allow 15day price match. but a 45day return window. the only way i can get the savings is to return and repurchase. I think that's too much damn trouble for the 300 dollars.
am i nuts? i suppose best buy knows this too.

Might be a VT thing, or a 65VT thing. I'm relatively confident my 55VT didn't have anything nor did either of my 60ZTs and they were all brand new. But I could be wrong on the VT. The ZT has a nicer metal frame on it with no plastic along the bottom so that's why it probably doesn't have the protective plastic you'd normally expect to find on the acrylic clear parts.

You can return and repurchase without having to take the whole TV back. They had to do something like this when I went back to get my extra 10 percent off open box (even though the TV that showed up at my door was brand new, don't know what the heck happened to my open box one) credit after the TV was delivered. Originally they were going to return and re-ring, but they didn't end up having to, and had a special exception mode they were able to use to give me the extra 10 percent. They're well equipped to handle all of these scenarios because the last thing they want you to do is just return it altogether. Hell I wasn't even the 4 day period of the coupon anymore at that point.

The policy isn't very well thought out. Basically, if you are within your return period, the price match policy still applies. You can simply tell them you want to return the TV. They are not going to make you actually return it and end up losing the sale. So they will re-ring it, without you having to bring the product in.

I sent the link of the cart the first time and then they asked for a link to the product page.

Guy then asked what the price was because he didn't see it on the page. I told him and he immediately honored the request.

I was done in less than five minutes and quite happy I didn't have to play CSR roulette.

If amazon charges tax in your area, you'll be charged for sales tax, if not, you won't. If you order and pay the ~2300 plus tax of say $200... then you'd get a refund of $300 plus a refund of the tax on that $300. If they don't charge you tax, they'd charge you $2300 and then price matched give you the $300 back.

Been following this thread for a while and thought I would share my Amazon PM of a Best Buy deal, maybe it will be helpful if this deal (or something similar) comes back around...  Last weekend Best buy had the 5x rewards which was the equivalent of 10% back in BB rewards.  I wanted to buy through Amazon so I started a chat and immediately asked for the "large items" department.  The rep. said he would transfer me and he did.  I told the next person I spoke with about the deal and gave them a link to the BB website that advertised the 5x rewards.  The rep. was away for about 5 minutes and then posted Amazon's policy about price matching "reward" type discounts.  To my surprise he then asked me how much the reward would be - I had already done the math and I just posted it in the chat window.  It amounted to $179.99 off of 1799.99 (for 60vt60).  The most I was expecting was to get a $179.99 in Amazon credit to be used at Amazon in the future (per Amazon's policy in reward matching).  However to my further surprise the rep. said to go ahead and order the tv and then he would adjust the price down manually.  I didn't ask any more questions and ordered.  A half hour later the purchase price was changed to $1620...

 

I realize Amazon is out of 60vt60 now, and that the way this all panned out may have had something to do with the individual rep I spoke with, but the point is that Amazon will match BB's reward deals and in some cases just adjust the price rather than issuing credit.  If they match BB's 65vt60 price and are willing to apply any type of BB reward multiplication (ie 3x or 5x) this could make a sweet deal even better.

Stupid newb question but how do I start the chat to ask for a price match? I submitted a 65vt60 order, but don't see the "Found a lower price?" link that is mentioned on the "TV Low Price Guarantee" page. Is there some black magic I'm missing here?
