I was fortunate to have never had any problems with the tvs i have purchased from pauls,, but I got the feeling that had I, they would of not gave a crap to help me.. That being said,, most of
the online companies, that offer no hassle return polices, such as amazon.com usually charge a good amount more..

I called into bestbuy online and was able to get the price match at East Coast TV's on the 64" - $2415 + sales tax.

You were fortunate! From what I have read on these forums, most Best Buys refuse to match East Coast's pricing. East Coast is not one of the vendors named in Best Buy's price matching policy. Every now and then, however, a particular store will do it.

Yea, I read through that too so I just called the 1-888-BESTBUY number and asked for the price match over the phone. They handled it all right over the phone - I just have to wait a week for it to be delivered but that was well worth the $500 to me. Just thought I'd post so others could try as well.

It's interesting that you called corporate as opposed to going into a store. Maybe they are softening up....

Did you get free delivery and/or basic set up from Best Buy as well with that deal? Thanks.

Free delivery and haul away of old unit. Didnt ask about basic setup as I don't really want them touching any of my gear. Had to pay sales tax though

First off, I have never bought from Paul.

Even though they are an authorized dealer, their return policy says the buyer is responsible for return shipping as well as subjected to a 10% restocking fee! This is the primary reason I bought from Best Buy. Value Electronics does some awesome job of QC'ing, however, there are a lot of things that can wrong between their warehouse and your home.

There's no way a lot of these online retailers can match the return policy of Best Buy/Amazon. Doesn't mean they're bad... they're simply in the business of making money, so I understand a lot of those fees. But as a consumer, I'd rather pay the extra tax (and a few hundred extra dollars) to have the option of exchanging/returning the product.

Just my two cents.

If you were to buy from somwhere like pauls, and you did not decide to exchange you would be hundreds of dollars ahead of the game,, and worst case senario, you decided to exchange you would just have to pay the shipping $100 and possibly the restocking fee, ,,, which in that case after all that, you would probably have still paid less than you would of at amazon or bestbuy..In short,, amazon and bestbuy already have the restocking fee built into the price, so you automatically lose out when you purchase from them

Actually, Paul's is an authorized dealer. So their price is exactly the same as Amazon's or Best Buy's. Your argument would hold some water for other retailers like East Coast TV's who are not authorized Samsung resellers. Of course, as you said, if you do buy from someone like East Coast, and get a perfect TV, you'll be much ahead of the game.

I was really hoping someone knew of a dirt cheap deal on a 64" F8500 this week. This thread hasn't been updated in a while.

I realize it is hit and miss but I'll see if BB & Pauls in West LA will match the price.

Wow - the prices really suck at BB and Pauls on the corner of the 10 and Olympic in West Los Angeles. Neither had any interest in negotiating prices. BB basically said nope and Paul's said they'd sell it for $3,300 tax included. Fortunately I can wait for a good sale from an authorized reseller. I would have ordered it from either one if they wanted to negotiate but they weren't in any rush to help me (and they weren't exactly fighting off customers) so I'd rather not give them my business anyways.

Anyone try buysquad? or Greystone - the price the Colonel listed was a good deal if Greystone is OK to deal with.

http://www.buysquad.com/product.aspx?pf_id=PN64F8500 - that or Abe's of Maine.

I bought my VT60 from Greystone... The order went exactly as told. I took the free basic shipping so it did take three weeks to ship to me. In my case the TV shipped from Paul's TV and the delivery was still the white glove service. They never called me to up sell (not sure if that is the norm or not). I would order from them again, but do understand the shipping will be 14-21 as stated.

I have order from Abe's in the past (Samsung B8500) and tried to order the VT from them but they have a mandatory 5% shipping insurance and up sell harder then anyone. I canceled my order with them.

Just got my f8500 from Cleveland Plasma... Could not be happier... Saved a ton off the current 3399.99 everyone is selling it for...Chris who posts on this forum is a super nice guy...

The order process could not have been easier... Chris gave me an out the door price that included shipping and insurance and everything... No haggling or hard sell or call back with hidden or up charges ... He really is available all the time too... I talked to him before 8am and after 10pm due to my work schedule... He always picked right up... And was great about answering all my noob questions (this is my first non CRT tv).

The tv arrived as scheduled Friday.... They could have delivered it Monday but I couldn't be home till Friday... It was available unbelievably fast (less than a week). The delivery guy was super nice and helped me take it out of the box and plug it in and look it over... No rushing me or anything...

Chris gives you 20 hrs from delivery to see if there is a problem/damage... I couldn't see anything with mine after going over it with a fine tooth comb. I registered with samsung and they are sending the free IR remote...

If you're like me this is a huge purchase and a ton of money... I joined these forums to make sure I was getting the best tv I could and the best bang for the buck. Even going with east coast tv I'm not sure after adding their shipping and insurance fees I could have done better on price...

P.s. I also bought the thee year Mack warranty though Chris... A great deal too. I can't recommend Cleveland Plasma highly enough.

Thanks for posting the info about Cleveland. I did some research last night, and seems like they are a really great place to deal with. I've been TV shopping for about 8 months now. I've gone back and forth between LED and Plasma. Like the picture of Plasma more, but the room the TV will go into is quite bright at times during the day. Kitchen lights right behind it as well. The Samsung plasma SEEMS to be the best of both worlds. It's more money than I initially wanted to spend however. I figure this TV should last me 10 years like my last Sony Wega did, (or has) and I will invest the money into something a little on the high end.

I'm going to call Chris today and get an idea of pricing. I'd like to pull the trigger before Christmas. I'll let everyone know how it goes. Looking forward to my new TV! cool.gif

My buddy got his 64F8500 from Greystone back in September, he paid extra for "expedited shipping" which was an extra 125 or 135. His set was delivered in a week and everything went smoothly.

I ordered my pn64f8500 from amazon warehouse deals on Mon oct 28th for exactly $2464.82 . With my amazon 3% back I essentially got it for $2390.88 with free shipping and no tax. Compare this to my local bb price plus tax of $3668.92 and I'm a happy camper at saving just over 1200$ with home delivery, and get this, a better return policy / more time.

Obviously I've got some concerns. First being this buzz everyone talks about. If it's bad enough I may send it back. Second is warranty, I hope that whoever sent it back did not register the warranty so I still can. And third is the condition of the unit. Amazon had it listed as "very good", there were some "good" for even cheaper but I went with the one "very good" which means like new with the exception of a small scuff on the top side of the tv and small scuff on the back, if these are the only problems then I won't see them at all. However if I have any problems at all with the unit within 30 days of me receiving it they will take it back free of charge and pay my return label.

It's set to arrive Tuesday nov 12th which means black Friday and cyber Monday will both happen in my return window. I doubt anyone is going to drop their price more than 1000$ but if they do I can send it back and buy new from wherever.

I'm nervous as this is a huge step up from my projector but I've done a lot of research and near as I can tell this unit performs as good as any other plasma on the market but also has much more brightness closer to a LCD/LED.

Also bought a mount from amazon for $68.49 to make it official. I debated going the unlicensed retailer route to save money. Also tried all I could at bb matching with no luck. I think I made the right call but only time will tell.

While not as good as Greystone/East Coast TV, I was able to get the Best Buy near my office to get down to 2899 for the 64" F8500 (essentially their price in August). I went in with print outs from East Coast/Greystone and played dumb and asked them about their price matching policy. After they told me they couldn't match those prices, I told them I wanted to buy local and asked them what they could do. After talking to one of managers for a little bit, they said they could do 2899. The combination of being able to return the TV if I had any issues, along with the fact I needed to dispose of an old 32" 160 lb Sony CRT TV, the premium was worth it to me. With that said, the Best Buy nearest to my home claimed they could adjust the price, so your mileage may vary.
