In retrospect I wish I'd set a price alert on the Amazon tracker, but I didn't even expect them to go this low (seemed like they were already selling out many places at the previous sale prices? Maybe that was just artificial supply constraint.)
I totally understand you in regards to this situation. I've just been reading the threads a lot lately on this stock availability of the F8500. Sure, the $1500 price is attractive for the 60" but I've been reading multiple times that while Best Buy shows the product in stock some people are getting their orders cancelled or even worse, they can place their order and then Best Buy tells them after a week that they can't get it.
This is pretty commonplace for a discontinued product that's in high demand, especially the reference 64".

I'm not sold on OLED just yet. Sure, the PQ is great and blacks are unmatched but I need to give it a few years so all the bugs are clear and other manufacturers get them on the market with more features, more screen size options and price competitiveness.

Hello guys,

I just made the plunge myself on the pn64f8500 today at Video and Audio Center in L.A. It seems it was the last one they had in their warehouse. Price was the Lowest, recently reduced Samsung price.

I had been searching Ebay and Amazon recently and thought that I was going to miss the great deals that had been going on in the last few weeks because I didn't have the money at the time to make the purchase. So now that I did save enough to buy, I thought the window had passed to score this model because I searched and searched and was coming up empty. I couldn't find any anywhere, online or local til I just happened to stumble into my Local V&A Center for something totally different for (early) Black Friday sale.

I didn't see any of the Sammy f8500's on display there so I thought I'd ask, just for the heck of it, one of the sales guys if he could check to see if any of their other stores might have one in stock, and sure enough, they just happened to have one more in their warehouse (which surprisingly was open on Thanksgiving), new in the box.

So, now I'm expecting delivery on Saturday of a brand new, last of the best, shiny new Plasma to arrive at my door. I'm totally excited and can't wait to set it up! I hope all goes well!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Value has the 51/64. Sigh, i just cant bring myself to justify an extra thousand for 4 inches over the 60, maybe for 2 or 300 and i want bigger than 51 for the bedroom.

^^^ Seeing that these are the last and arguably the best plasma's that will ever be produced again, I'd say, if you can afford it, go for it. You might regret later that you didn't get the larger one.

The 64" i just got will be replacing a 60" in my den that will now be replacing a 50" that's in my master bedroom. the 50"er will find it's new resting place in another room

99% of the time it's the case of regret of not getting the larger screen. It wasn't always $1000 difference. The cost just got reduced because the 60" isn't nearly as in high demand as the 64. But it's your money and you spend it as you see fit but just keep in mind that after a few months the $1000 price difference won't matter as much. This is the last great reference plasma panel it was a no-brainer for me to get the 64 inch.

Who told you VE has the 64 in stock? I just talked to Robert yesterday about the 64 I ordered on November 5th and he said it would be coming in next week. Of course last week he told me they would be there this past Friday. Did you call and verify they had some in stock?

I'm happy to report that Frys gave me a $200 refund on the 60" F8500 since I paid $1699 last Sunday and now they have it for $1499. Can't beat that deal for the last great plasma.

Bigger is better! I was looking at the 60, but once I saw the picture on a 64, there was no going back. I came from a 50, so leap was huge. Get the biggest you can get or fit!

Just my luck. Best Buy comes out to deliver the 64" today and it has the wrong hardware in the box. It was NIB but didn't have the right mounting brackets for the stand.

As in, it had the wrong ones, or didn't have the brackets at all? Very strange...

It had two left mounting brackets so they couldn't attach the stand.

Of course now that I call Best Buy they told me I should have kept the TV to do a return/exchange rather than refusing delivery. At this point I have to wait until they get the TV back at the warehouse and then refund me so I can make another purchase assuming they are still even available then.

Yeah, wrong move. At this point, I would call them and get that TV back to my house. Have them plug it up to see if it works okay. I would hate for you to lose that tv because of a bracket. If they never get any more in, you're SOL. Surely Samsung would send you the correct bracket.

Not to pile on, but it doesn't seem like your alternative choices are 60" or 64" for +$1,000 rather you can have the 64" for $2,499 or nothing.

Don't let anchoring bias keep you from buying one...

When did you order and where are you?

I'm supposed to get delivery on Sunday, haven't heard from them (that I'm aware of, they could have called and not left a VM since I am out of the country) yet.

Yeah ive tracked it for a while and realize it was 1799 not too long ago. Another issue is that i dont have the discover card and missed the boat on the price protection deals (64" for under 2k NIB). With tax or shipping this is close to 3 grand

Florida and ordered 11/13. I had to push delivery date out though which is why it is so late.

They sent me an email and text the night before. They then called me this morning when it was 30 minutes out.

If I hadn't used over $500 in gift cards, I would just buy the TV now if I could get the order to go through.

Just sucks with the timing, as it will be difficult to remedy with the craziness at the stores right now. Samsung could have probably shipped you a bracket as well. You'll probably be fine either way though.

I agree. I didn't think about it and the delivery guys weren't any help. I figured if I refused delivery I would call and they would send a replacement. This is how it has worked with anything I have ordered elsewhere when something was wrong with the product that was being dropped off.

Holy Cow... I just bought the PN60F8500 on Amazon for $1500. No tax, and free shipping.

It just happened to appear.. I purchased really quickly, and now they are gone again.

I canceled the PN51F8500" from Amazon that was coming -- but I'm too late. Amazon sent me an email and I have to now refuse delivery...

You requested to cancel part of your order which was placed on Sunday, November 23, 2014. Unfortunately, we weren't able to stop this shipment and your items will soon be shipped. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

If you no longer want the items in this order, you may either refuse delivery or return the items for a refund when they arrive. For return instructions, please visit our Returns Center on Amazon.com. Learn more about returning items you ordered.

And I'm now going to cancel the 60" I had coming from Best Buy.

Who woulda thunk..

Thanks, I'll try not to worry about it until I land in Miami tomorrow ~6pm and get to see if they texted/called/emailed.

The only thing here is you're not dealing with a product of high availability. In fact it's become the lottery for most just finding one. So yes, your method or refusing delivery is definitely sensible if was anything else that was easily replaceable. Let us know how it goes.

Just got the call, my 64" is being delivered tomorrow. Even if it turns out to be a loud buzzer, am I better off just keeping it and having Samsung try and fix the buzz? Does Samsung even have a fix for it, or is it more throw a ton of stuff at the wall and hope something sticks? Sounds like no guarantee of getting a 2nd try if I send it back with the Best Buy guys.

I'll be in the same situation a week from now when I get my 60" from Amazon. Regardless of how the set is, I have a hard time imagining that I would send it back with the delivery guys.

Same. I'd rather have someone try an attempt at fixing it if it's bad, and if that doesn't work then I still have 30 days to return it to Best Buy.

Just got my 60" delivered today via Pilot from Amazon. Nice guy set it up with me and everything was working great no buzzing just perfect. I go to the beach come home and the TV won't get a signal through any port. I used 5 different cables and 3 different sources with no luck. All my other small TVs work fine when swapped in. I called Amazon and they want to refund the TV but have no new TV to send me. Samsung wants to do a remote diagnostic test and if that fails send a tech to my house.

Any suggestions?
