Are there any w/o the fan noise? My perception is that the only difference is the owner's perception of noise (i.e. really quiet room--room acoustics vary from room to room as does the normal noise level in the room, listening w/o sound on TV). The TV has fans. I can't image any w/o fan noise. From what I've read the foam is only an attempt to mitigate and may increase the heat w/o much impact on noise. It is good to read that some are seeing at least improvement with the foam. I haven't read where the foam eliminates hearing it from the seating area so "fix" isn't a word I would use.

I just special ordered a ZT from BB...waited 2 weeks....got July 2013 sticker on back. I can clearly hear the fans everywhere in the room 15' feet away...with sound off and quiet room it is a bothersome noise. When I turn the sound on and start watching I either don't hear it or it doesn't stand out. So far I'm going to see if I can just ignore it and not sit in a quiet room with set on.

I can not hear the fans on my 65 ZT60 unless I stick my head behind the panel. I do not have the foam fix installed.

Installed my ZT65 yesterday...no discernible fan noise. Paid 3499. at BB plus the 5 year warranty cost. Ran a calibration Blu Ray on the set and it was already darn close to what it should be. I was surprised.

Anybody know of any great deals for the OLDEST 70" models that might be on sale really cheap ? Maybe the 70" models from 2-3 years ago.

My Clubhouse just wants big size...no other features...and $$$ are a concern.

While perception is certainly a factor, I believe there is a pretty wide margin of variance in the noise people are experiencing. Some are exceptionally loud, and some are not. I think there is enough evidence to suggest an actual hardware issue. Panasonic would have ignored it had there not been. From your description, I would say you are applying an exceptionally high standard of expectation and your set does not suffer from the actual issue you are describing here. As you said, it has fans, you are going to hear them to some extent. Since it does not interrupt the use of your television, I'm a little confused as to what you are seeing as a problem.

Well I got mine from Amazon. It was only $2,895? Everyone seems to be paying $3000 plus.

Here it is if it helps www.amazon.com

It helps to mention what size...I would be very shocked if you procured the 65" for such a low price.

Just out of curiosity - Where ae you located? I haven't investigated my local Video Only here in Portland, OR.
Also, did they quote you a price on the 65" or were you only after the 60"?

Cheers

I am in Spokane Washington and they did quote the 65" at 3,100 but I didn't need it for the room I have. The 60" was plenty so the 700.00 dollar savings was nice :-)

Thanks for the reply. That's valuable information. I will have to hit up my Video Only and get a price quote from them on the 65" now that I know $3100 is possible.
BTW, what's their return/staisfaction policy there? Do they offer extended service? I've never bought from them before. I usually just shop the blue box with the yellow tag to maintain my Premiere Silver status.

I guess I could also get a price quote from Video Only and and see if Best Buy can match it if they have a better return policy.

Cheers
Steve

No problem at all Steve glad to help. The TV does come with 1 year Panasonic Warranty and I purchased an extra 1 year for 100.00 dollars. I have 30 days to return it if needed as well and I am pretty sure they offer extended services. I worked with a very knowledgeable great guy by the name of Zach McDeid and I recommend you call him at 509-466-0300 so he can help you get the same deal. :-)

Well... I took the plunge. Our 65ZT60 will be delivered on Friday.

I priced it at my local Video Only - Over the phone without stepping foot in the store I asked for $3100 and they said yes. When I stopped in their tag price was 3299.99. I spoke to the salesman and got an OK vibe but was disappointed to learn their return policy was in-store credit only. Also, there extended service plan doesn't cover pixel loss or burn in.

Ultimately I ended up buying from Magnolia/Best Buy. They price matched the $3100 (even though the sales associate said the lowest they had ever had it listed for was $3400. I told him I knew for a fact that they had a tag for $3200 at one point but wasn't going to argue. It's possible our area never saw that price.

Also, interestingly I went in on Saturday to work the deal. I had decided on the 4 year extended service plan for $600. I told the guy I needed to sleep on it and I'd be back the next day after confirming he was working. When I went back today - the 4 year plan was no longer in their system for this TV. They only had a 2 year and a 5 year. Looks like they are no longer going to offer a 4 year. Any way - they worked some magic and managed to get me the 4 year plan. I also got them to go 2-for 1 on a couple additional pairs of upgraded 3D glasses - the rechargeable ones. And a Panansonic 3D Blu ray - the BDT230 for $100 bucks.

All in all I feel a little uncomfortable having spent so much money but I feel like I got a good deal.

Cheers
Steven

...so is Best Buy really willing to price match online prices? I'd love to pick one up at an actual local storefront but not at the expense of a much cheaper deal...who should I sight as a reputable site in an effort to negotiate the price down from $3,800.

Best Buy is very specific about which online retailers they will price match. It's in the small print here...
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Global/Low-Price-Guarantee/pcmcat290300050002.c?id=pcmcat290300050002&searchresults=1&searchterm=price+match

In short "At the time of purchase, we will match the current pre-tax price for new, identical, immediately available products from a local retail competitor's store and these designated major online retailers: Amazon.com, Apple.com, Bhphotovideo.com, Crutchfield.com, Dell.com, Frys.com, hhgregg.com, HP.com, HomeDepot.com, Lowes.com, Newegg.com, OfficeDepot.com, OfficeMax.com, Rakuten.com Shopping, Sears.com, Staples.com, Target.com, TigerDirect.com and Walmart.com."

If none of the above have it for a lower price you should try some local retailers and see if you can get them to lower the price. Best Buy gave me a bunch of hmm and haw about how the manufacturer is very specific in setting the price for a model like this particular one. I.E. Panasonic tries to set a min purchase price so that all retailers have the same price similar to what Bose does. I was fortunate enough to have a local regional retailer not only have it tagged lower but also willing to knock it down even more. I used this to cut a deal at Best Buy who had a better return policy and service plan.

Happy Hunting.

It can't hurt. I was prepared to do the same at Video Only when I first started negotiating. Turns out I didn't even have to - The guy lowered the price over the phone.

...anyone ever buy anything from TVSUPERSTORES.COM? They have the 65" ZT60 for 3,099 with a free Wall mount, free shipping, no tax and a free 3D bluray player with an extended warranty purchase...seems too good to be true and that scares me a bit...

I'd like to purchase the 65" ZT60 from BB. Seems like prices are locked across the board for the online retailers they will price match against. Looking for ways to motivate them to drop the price. I'm not good with haggling, but I'm willing to give it a try. I've wondered if they will drop the price of the 65" ZT60 to that of the Samsung 64" F8500 if I go in and just ask. Though, I want more ammo than just asking for the price drop. Any advice will be helpful. More ammo in my belt!

Thanks,
Ron

Best idea is to go in person to your local BB/Magnolia and ask to speak with either the Magnolia manager or the store manager. Ask if they will honor the $3199 price Magnolia offered on the 65" ZT60 a few months back. it is highly doubtful that Magnolias cost of the set has increased since the summer when this deal was offered, so they should be able to match this deal now. See if they will give you the deal or at least get close to it. Also, since they have such a high markup on their warranty, you could see if they will do something like $3499 plus tax for the TV with extended warranty plan. That makes the overall deal more attractive to BB.
