In fact it's SUCH a good deal that I'm kinda worried. :-) According to the sticker, the price last changed on 3/10. So maybe Best Buy is just trying to clear these things out once and for all.

Anyway, the assembly date is May 2013. Am I alright there? What should I be looking for? I've had a 42-inch 720p Panny in my bedroom for a good five years now, so this is quite the upgrade.

I wonder if it's the one that turned up"cracked" after I inspected it..LOL..and they never delivered it.....May build and the same 1899 price....are you in NY or NJ?

The price was actually $1,999 but I managed to talk them down slightly.

It's from a store in midtown Manhattan. But like I said, I inspected it and it seemed flawless. One would hope I'd notice a crack. :-)

Have you guys found the BB deals via internet search, phone call, or on site visits?

Only one in my area is a 65s60 for $1200, not bad, but I want a ZT, and maybe settle on a VT.

Unless your planning on spending 6 times that amount (about 7500$) your out of luck man for a VT/ZT. At least for a brand new one. If that 65S60 is new that's still a great display for a great price. I believe the lowest the 65" S60 went was 999$ so that's not a bad deal at all. I had a 50" S64 (same as the S60 but was a Costco special model with a better filter) until I stepped up in models and size and it was great.

I'm thinking of picking up a floor model/open box VT, is there an easy way to check hours on it?

Menu > Help > Version > Status4. The number after the letter represents the hours the TV has on it. That value increases in increments of 60 minutes whenever the TV is on. Status 4 starts with A from 0-100 hours, then B for 100-199, then C from that point forward.

This is not exact but will give a rough estimate. You have to go in service menu to find the exact hours. Of course, you could brick the TV if you screw up.

Who is offering the warranty - most folks around here talk highly of Square Trade - Also if you want to go to the Panasonic website you can register your ZT they will offer you an option of getting a Square Trade extended warranty

http://shop.panasonic.com/support/?selectedTopNavId=nav10&support=y

Do you know how many hours are on the panel? If not you can find out by going to - Menu/Help/Version/Status 4 are the hours on the panel.

We are doing some research on the # of ZT panels produced. Would be helpful if you could you let us know what your panel/sequence number and date of manufacture are.

In case you don't know the first four numbers of your serial number represent the the year (3) and the next three the day of the year - I'm 3191 which means 2013 - July 10th - 191st day of the year. I'm A08576 - July 10 - 65ZT60

Some recent additions:

A15303 – October 22 – 60ZT60
A15890 - October 23 - 60ZT60
A15900 - October 23 - 60ZT60
A16422 - October 30 - 65ZT60
A16614 - November 13
A16781 – December 4 - 65ZT60
A16796 – December

Congratulations and enjoy the best HDTV ever made!

I'm still amazed at what a brand new one of these TV's is going for right now! I feel very fortunate that BB accepted my offer when I was just messing around like 2-3 weeks after it came out. Congrats to those who are still finding these great TV's at a low price.

Interesting article from CNET:

Why Samsung's F8500 is the last great plasma TV

"Contrary to what the company indicated at CES, Samsung won't bring to market any new plasma TVs for 2014 -- aside from a single mainstream 64-inch model. That leaves the carryover F8500 as default champion of non-OLED picture quality. Last year the superb Samsung PNF8500 series of plasmas was our third-favorite TV overall for picture quality, losing out to Panasonic's VT/ZT series by a nose. Now that those two are gone, never to be replaced, the 8500 is top dog for picture quality.

Let's see if Cnet eats their words after they've reviewed the H5000. Aside from pentile, the H5000 looks to be a killer! Definitely not a F5300/F5500 derivative as I've once thought.
