This is a little premature I know but there was a person who posted that BB/Magnolia offered to lower the price of the ZT to that of the VT when he walked in to cancel. So I thought it would be good to track ZT pricing.

I have been to a couple of BB's and they said they couldn't move on the ZT60 price just yet, maybe when they are actually in stock, but not now. I don't think we will see any real price movement on these until they go open market in a couple of months. But meanwhile......they will deal all day on VT60's.

I went to a Magnolia here in Vegas Saturday and presented them with a online retailers pre-order price of $3100. After some talking between the salesmen, the store manager and the district manager, who was visiting the store that day, I got the ZT60 for $3100 plus tax. And, double RZ points for the weekend, which will get me $125 in coupons, and 24 months no interest. Delivery is tentatively set for 5/31. I was really shocked they did this deal based on everything I'm reading here and on other forums but very grateful they did.

Yeah, my salesman won't budge. Claims there are 60 preorders BUT he's proven himself a liar already so I'll wait until the day they call with them in and try to negotiate them down. If they won't budge then I'll cancel and wait go to another mag dealer.

That price probably would have put me over the top on the ZT60, especially without taxes. eek.gif

I bought it at Best Buy, but used Cleveland Plasma's quote of $3100 to deal with them.

I bought the ZT60 65" for $3700 out the door delivered with the pen thrown in ($80 value) from best buy magnolia. . I think they were willing to flex more but I wasn't worried about it, I'm happy at $3700

Great, did that include tax (my gut impression from "out the door" is yes)? My local Best Buy (the only one, the rest are 2 hours away) would not budge when I tried to price match my ABT preorder of $3500. How did you convince them to get that low?

They didn't need much convicting. Just asked. Yes $3700 was tax included. It was the big magnolia, I can't remember what they call it. The regular best buy and magnolia were not flexing on price. I had s way better experience with the big magnolia (design center?) whoever it's called.

Mind if I ask what the tax rate is for you? I live in the land where they'd like taxes to equal the price of the item you are buying.

9% but they also have a state employee at chairs by the doors of electronics and grocery stores trying to get you to donate more.

ABC Warehouse (Michigan) can go down to at least $2650 which is what I'm picking my 60" zt60 up at.

But aren't you the guy who wasn't buying from BB anymore because they made you sign a 90 day no return note? So you have a history in their system for returning high priced items and still got them to give you about $800 off on a display that they have mandates not to discount because they are the only ones with the display? You must have magical powers.

MDC has a 30 day exclusive on the sets so I doubt you'll see them in June. I'm assuming that price is for a 60" and you got the price offline as the site has full retail.

One MDC wouldn't budge. I called another and asked. The GM price matched ABT. Then about a day later I got a call from a salesman who arranged the shipping. He said that the GM got a call from corporate and took some heat because Panny is tightening the screws and is mandating that the set cannot be sold for less then MSRP (at least by BB). Oh I had to pay Cali taxes on it too. No extended warranty (huge profit center for them), no cables, no nothing added although they gently did try.

For what it's worth, ABC Warehouse has an arrival date of June 1st. Whether they get there at that date or they hold true to not selling them for a month is another question. And yes that is the price for a 60". I went in and talked to a salesman. Hard to beat that price when only panasonic let them drop the price on their top end models this year (samsung and sony are above $3k). I game a bit so the lag from the 8500 put that out of the equation anyways (zt is 40ms, samsung is 80ms). I was guaranteed that price with a $20 deposit also. Hopefully that holds true!

I ended up purchasing from a out of state Magnolia Design center which has day and night difference in customer service. The design center told me that if I had any issues, feel free to return it and they would happily accept. They also gave me no grief with negociating. I believe magnolia and magnolia design center are to different companies.

Which ABC Warehouse? Southfield, MI is the closest to me. If that price holds true, you got a great deal. I will try and duplicate that deal.

MHT gave me an initial price of $3700. I told them I would pay $3400. They came back with a final of $3500. The problem is that it is still $750 more then the VT. I viewed both in bright conditions and I'm not sure that the ZT is $750 better then the VT for the small improvement in daytime viewing. From all accounts they look identical at night.

How much did you ultimately pay again? $3500 + tax + free shipping or was that shot down thanks to Panasonic? From the sound of it, it looks like you came out around $3700+ (thanx CA tax) and the GM was the one who took the heat. Congrats.

I have managed to find one who will offer it for $3700, but they're out of my network. Thusly, delivery has to be arranged with the local store and will cost extra. Still holding onto ABT for now, would rather not try to get the beast 20 miles here in the back of a pickup (in a heavily windy area) and be held responsible for any potential damage (whether it occurred on the way to the house or during previous shipping routes).
