In my search for a 60VT60 in Canada I contacted Visions through their 'Price Match Guarantee' web page with details of me buying a set from Pauls TV in the US for $1899usd plus Canadian taxes. I didn't expect them to fully match, but asked for an offer that would make me think twice about cross border shopping. The best they offered me was just under $2600cad plus taxes and shipping charges. I didn't even bother to ask what the shipping charges were, or even ask if I could simply pick up the set at the store that is 10 blocks from my home. I wound up buying my set from the US and brought it across the border.

Don't know how much off they'll offer for the the ZT, but I'd hope at least $600ish based on my experience. Hopefully more since the ZT is so outlandishly priced in Canada.

Good luck and please update with any deals you might have found.

Nope, I suspect the price won't drop too much because no new model will come out next year. The price will probably remain stable or go higher like the Pioneer Elite when it was discontinued.

With a MSRP of 5K, we'll be lucky if we can get one for under 4K.

I have a friend that works for a retailer that can get me the 65" zt60 for $3999.00, I can also get a real good deal on the Sammy 64" F8500 for $2600. Don't know if I can justify a $1400 premium for the ZT. I already have a 65" Vt50 and love it and a 60" F8500. The Panny IMO looks better than the Sammy. Whether the Panny is $1400 better is the question. I live near the border, but it is still a PIA to pick up a TV and then take the risk of no warranty.

Just curious how you would compare the ZT60 and F8500. It sounds like the F8500 has the potential to be brighter, while the ZT60 has better black levels, though I'm sure there are other, more subtle differences.

I've read all the reviews, I just like hearing from people who have had a chance to live with a product for a while, too.

I got my 65VT30 for 2999 from Visions. That's when the MSRP dropped from 4299 to 3999 when the VT50 came out. I'm hoping to get the 65ZT60 between 3.5-4K.

I don't think the ZT60 will drop much in Canada. When the vt50 came out Panasonic was still in the game and they dropped the price of the vt30 to move the previous years stock. with production now stropping completely they will probably sell out before reductions are necessary. Stock is so low at the moment it's supply and demand.

My thoughts exactly.

The lowest I can get is 4K. Don't know if I should do it. I don't need a TV right now. If Panasonic wasn't quitting the plasma business, I wouldn't have this dilemma.

I went back and forth several times between the 64"F8500 & 65"Zt60. It was painstaking. In the end I got the 65" ZT60 for $3999.00 Lowest I have seen and this was through a friend at a retailer. Most other retailers laughed me out the door when I told them what I could get the Panny for (here in Canada). I know most did not believe me. I didn't want to miss out on what some to believe is the best plasma out there. I could have bought from the USA since I am close to the border, but what a hassle if I had to return, or if i got an early build date with fan issue or needed repair down the road. I am sure that $4000 price will hold up for quite some time and there is not going to be a "fire sale" or even boxing day sale that will come close.
