Found a new Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 ! worthy deal?

My very old Sony TV died today and I went to check few of the last good Plasma TVs locally, unfortunately I found nothing but Panasonic VT20 (I already own one). They promised to search for the newer VT50 but there is no guarantee to find that "last piece".

Anyways, I couldn't stay and wait, so I went to Pioneer and I was shocked when the sale's man said "I have two PDP-LX5090 TVs, this one and a new one in box".

Does the PDP-LX5090 compete with newer Panasonic's and Samsung's HDTV ?

I need it for home theatre as a reference display, I don't care about 3D and other features. Picture quality is my priority.

Any thoughts?

Congrats that's a heckuva find. Being that this is a 9th generation pioneer I think it will hold its own against most TVs out there

Bad news. I just came out from pioneer store.
The old sales man said " I'm sorry I meant I have new LX608 in box, The one in front of you is the last LX5090".
God knows how many hours it has. The price for the used 5090 is approx. USD1500 with one year warranty.
Regarding the older but bigger LX608D, the price is around USD 2200 for new set.

I left with empty hands

The location is Kuwait.
