64" Samsung PN64F8500 for $1,500?

I had a guy that I have gotten to know through Conn's offer me his 64" Samsung Plasma PN64F8500 for $1,500 which I went to go check out last night. Everything is intact, has all the accessories and it has 5,000 hours on the TV. Should I pull the trigger on the deal or just buy a new one? I need a filler TV for my living room area. On East Coast they go for about $2300 and on Best Buy for $3100. Considering the expected panel life of this plasma tv (about 80,000 hours)…. It's really tempting… as it's only about 8% "used"… Your thoughts? I'm also considering saving more money and buying an OLED TV from LG (9300) or the 4K OLED that will be coming out soon…

Could be a good buy.

Things to ask/check:
- Try full white slide for burn in/IR. Not very common on these panels but worth checking.
- Any warranty/proof-of-purchase etc.
- All HDMI ports functional.

Do u know why he is selling ? Maybe moving on to a 4K ? Are you able to demo the TV , watch a few different things ?

We have the same exact TV , it is spectacular , can't tell you how many friends and family just say "WOW" when they see it . Good luck

I was able to watch the TV while he was playing PS4… absolutely stunning picture quality. He is selling it as he will be moving and is going into a smaller place. He's a good guy…one of the few guys that tell the truth when going into Conn's…

Well, are you buying it?

ISF Calibrator
Samsung PN64F8500
Pioneer Kuro Elite Pro-111FD
Pioneer Kuro BDP-320
Displays are like 100% cotton t-shirts. Always buy a size larger than you think you'll need, as they tend to shrink over time.

In truth
he probably got in on the Conn's deal for $1999 on these units

so he is losing $400 plus sales tax

No, he actually sold it before he even gave me a chance to buy it… oh well… I will save money by getting an OLED 4K instead and then possibly getting it calibrated!

Yeah, I figured that much as another guy that works there told me what they were going for so I pretty much knew how much he got it for?

I will just save my money to get an OLED 4K instead.

Ah too bad. That was a pretty great price, I'm surprised he even gave you a time limit at all to make a decision. That would have sold within a day or two on craigslist.

It actually took him 2 weeks to sell it. He couldn't wait for me as he needed the move to another place here in town and I didn't have the money til today! Oh well… I'm going to save my money to get an OLED or OLED 4K…
