Hey all,

Seems all the online dealers have this listed at the same price. (2699) Has anyone seen a deal on this projector or found a dealer with a better price?

Thanks

Yeah. Saw that. Was told by one of the other dealers that the ebay one wasnt an authorized dealer. And they would not pricematch.

Epson, according to one of their sales reps, isnt allowing authorised dealers to advertise the 5010 for a lower price than the $2699.00 you have seen. He also went one step further and stated that they will not all any of their dealers to sell the 5010 or 6010 for less than MSRP. I find that second statement hard to believe, but that is what I was told.

That is called Price Fixing & last time I looked..Highly ILLEGAL!

Price fixing... Doesn't Apple do that with all of their products? They never put them on sale and the price is constant.

^^^ I didn't mean that as a knock against apple, I am literally asking. When I worked at CompUSA years ago, we were told the Apple hardware has an absolute price, and they don't play sales games like PC vendors do. A macbook pro with Processor x, and screen Y costs $2699 whether you buy it at CompUSA, the apple store, online, etc. How is the Epson minimum different?

It is actually called Resale Price Maintenance or a vertical price restraint. It is not illegal. Such agreements between vendors and manufacturers are to be evaluated by antitrust regulators and courts under a "rule of reason" test, which is not difficult to satisfy.

Price fixing is an agreement between competitors to set a price floor or ceiling, or to control supply in order to set a price floor or ceiling.

Regardless of what Epson says on price, its products are so widely distributed, I sure you will find some discounts.
