Epson 5040 for $2499...Projector People is selling it starting Tomorrow!

Yes...both the 5040UB and 5040UBE go on sale tomorrow at Projector People with an Instant $500.00 Rebate.

Great News for both those who want a spectacular Faux 4K Projector at a bargain price, and also those who might have balked at the additional expense of going "Wireless", the cost of which is now negated with this sale.

Both units will remain on sale until the 11th of March.

It would be best to call in your order on Monday, (...or go online Sunday to reserve...) and I'd suggest asking for Kurt Ritari (Ext. 2002) or use his name as your reference, as he can also provide special pricing on the Chief RPA Dedicated Mount for those units....just tell 'em MississippiMan said he bedder! He will, if he his listed as your preferred Rep.

Good huntin' all ya all!

This is Epson manufacturer sale. Most vendors should have at the same prices. I've already verified both Amazon and Best Buy show the same prices on their web sites.

This is a nice looking projector. A local friend has one, it's a good choice for the spend.

Yeah...but you saw it here 1st.

And neither of the mentioned Sites or locations will be able to get you the Ultra Low Profile Chief Dedicated RPA357 Mount for a special price like Kirk at PP will do. If you ask for it and mention AVS.

With a Projector the size / weight of the Epson 5040UB, you really...really do want the dedicated Stamped Metal Plate as well as the famously sturdy 12 Screw Adjustment Box that comes with the Chief RPA357...It's the Big Gun you really need.

T'aint nuthin' Mo Bedder.....just cheaper and more flimsy.

I can imagine BB is not all that happy, considering more than a few such requests lie in store for them.

If by BB, you mean Best Buy, it's not a price match. They are also selling at this price on their own. It's on their web site at that price. I guess if your local store isn't showing that price, then buy it on their web site for in-store pickup.

It's a manufacturer sponsored sale, so pretty much everyone should be selling at this price.

It was a BB price guarantee. I have 45 day return, exchange, price adjust.

clhug,

The point being that bluer101 purchased his 5040ub "before" the sale began so he was deserving of redemption of BB's 45 Day price adjustment

And frankly, many vendors do not have nearly as liberal Return policies...(Amazon Prime the major exception...)nor the degree of Tech support some others do. Sometimes there are Freight Charges to be paid...in other cases Tax. (Local or In-State-based merchants) Tax on a $2500.00 purchase amounts to being no small amount of chump change.

My overt suggestion that AVS'ers strongly consider going the Projector People route is based on having had many, many repeated experiences dealing with those folks...that as well as Kirk being willing to offer a discount on what is singularly the absolute best Mounting Solution for the massive 5040ub.

If you ask for him, that is. No assurances otherwise.

OH, I do apologize, I did not realize that. That's great that BB honored the price guarantee after the original purchase.

I'm also not trying to take anything away from, or steer anyone toward, any particular vendor. I was just trying to be informative that people have a choice of vendors for whatever their own reasons might be.

Sawrite!

Likewise...being a staunch advocate of the Chief RPA Dedicated Mounts, it's the chance for Members to get a discounted deal on one that tends to have me direct their attention toward Kirk @ PP.

I own no PP Stock....no one there is a In-Law...and if all I get in return is a "Thank you" from either party...........I'm good.

Peerless ACC-570 Round Ceiling Plate.

$20.00
Depending upon your situation, the Plate can be either on the Room side of the ceiling, or mounted on a wood bar across Attic Joists and the Pipe protrude down through a 1-13/16" hole to make for a very smooth looking, cosmetic installation.

That's how I do 99% of mine.

Thank you. Appreciate it. I would just put it on room side and use drywall screws and drywall anchors. I'm guessing just 2 screws would hold our heavy pj.

Be sure to use these Strap Toggles

They are the only Anchors to use as they will securely hold up to 80 lbs in Drywall.

The Ceiling plate actually comes with 4 Holes, and you should use 'em all.

I'm buying the 5040 too and found out some harsh info. It doesn't come with a ceiling mount as everyone knows, so I tried to find one on their site, no luck.

Found a new mount (CHF4500) from a 6040 on eBay and contacted Epson if this mount would fit the 5040 and they said no. They said only the CHF 4000 would. Not believing them, I contacted Chief and here's their story:

Epson buys components from different companies and mishmashs them together to build a mount. That's what becomes the mount. Chief only sells part of the mount, even though their name is on the side of the package.

Point of the story is the CHF 4500 does fit the 5040 and Epson is full of ****.

I haven't received the mount yet so I'm hoping for the best. I just looked at my mount holding up my Epson 9500 and it's a big sucker and hangs low. Oh, I did ask Epson would the mount for the 9500 fit the 5040 and was told no.

So, since I can't see if the 5040 will actually fit the existing count, this new mount is for backup...but if the original fits, then the 6040 mount will be back on eBay and hopefully someone will be able to use it.

...finally retired and spending time in my HT!!!

Equipment consists of: Epson 6040 3D/4K UB Projector(ISFed); 110" 16x9 Dalite HD Progressive Screen; Samsung 3D/4K K8500 Player; Definitive Speakers (Center, Towers, Rears); Earthquake P12 sub; Onkyo 608 A/V Receiver; MX990 Remote; 5 Bello chairs; Coaire Mini-split A/C.

Did you fail to see the Dedicated Chief RPA357 Mount I posted above? You could have saved yourself a lot of trouble and effort. Just a cursory examination of the Screw Holes will plainly show that the 5040 is it's mate, and nothing else.

Yes, Chief does sell just the PJ Plate itself....for around $100.00, but that makes no sense to purchase whatsoever unless you already have the Top part of a Chief Mount on a Drop Pole.

No previous Chief mount that fits the 8000 -9000 series will fit the 50-60 series, except the Universal Mounts. And those will just "barely" fit.

If it is a Chief Dedicated Plate and sold to mate with the 6040, it will work, but it will be a Hybrid that uses a Peerless Adjustable Mount Assembly.

As for the Chief RPA 168 mount your using on your existing Epson, get used to the idea it will not fit, and it will be for sale by you soon.

Never ever mount your projector to the ceiling, anchoring just to drywall. That can end in disaster. Could even get someone killed. Had a customer last year that moved into a house with an existing projector setup. He purchased a JVC and installed it on existing ceiling hardware. Within a few months the anchors tore out of the ceiling and the projector dropped, hitting a table. Luckily, the projector did not hit someone and it was repairable. Also insurance will not pay for this, because it will have been mounted incorrectly. You must mount to either a joist/rafter/truss or to solidly secured blocking. If you need help in figuring out how to do this, I can help you.

Not raining on anyone's parade, but manufacturers often do this before an improved model comes out to dump inventory. Hmmm....

That's certainly possible, but it's not just any sale at a random point in time. It was done specifically in timing with the March Madness college basketball tournaments, similar to how there are often TV sales right before the Super Bowl. So that makes me less inclined to think it's to dump inventory for a new model. But it's of course possible.

The 5040UB has only been available for about 6 months so it's still way too new a model for Epson to be clearing stock to make room for a replacement. History has shown that Epson, like every other projector brand, has periodic sales that are not related to clearing stock for a replacement.

I have a Epson 5040ub and i was wondering
Where did you purchase your mount from?
What else is needed to mount it to the ceiling? Any additional mounting hardware?

Thank you !

Might be a response to the Optoma UHD65 CTA-certified 4K UHD HDR DLP projector (8.3 million active pixels - double the active pixels of the 5040UB) that is landing at the end of this month in the same price range as the 5040UB.
