While the PQ isn't a significant resolution/detail improvement over the Two-Disc Collector's Edition DVD, what is noticeable is a reduction in contrast (probably good) and a cleaning up of the film; many of the spots and lines that were on the DVD are now gone. I guess it's possible that the clean-up process reduced the final sharpness a bit, which would explain why it's not dramatically better than the DVD, though you can see the improvements at:

It looks maybe 2-3x as sharp in some scenes, but certainly not 6x. And the grain is definitely apparent, at times distracting.

But for $10.99 it's definitely worth the upgrade, including having all the Special Features on the same disc.

^ I saw your post a few weeks ago but did not get a chance to visit Costco until this past weekend. They had the King Kong/book blu-ray package in stock so I picked it up. Since I only have King Kong on VHS tape this should be a worthwhile upgrade for me.

It seems like a nice package and I'm looking forward to watching it very soon. It's such a classic film, that I always enjoy watching, so it will be good to own it on the BD format.

Anyhow, thanks alot for posting about the Costco deal.

Go Phillies! Go Eagles! Go Sixers! Go Flyers!

I want this on BD badly! smile.gif Maybe I can get someone to pricematch this, since I'm not a Costco member.
