So we're getting at/below $50/TB now. Not bad. Hopefully this trend continues.

I'm tempted to grab a couple of the WD's.

Mods, please change the title as it should be $150 for the WD Drive.

Lol so that Hitachi "deal" I posted isn't much of a deal after all! I too am thinking about some of those WD's as well.

Don't make fun of me for my stupid questions!

I still have about 3TB available so maybe I'll just wait until the prices come down just a little more. I was getting 2TB Hitachis for $70 ~ $80 last year and one day I snagged one on SS for $60..

Good deals for now....thanks.

On an aside; prices for the Hitachi's were always $60 AR.
All 2TB were priced at $70 or $80, Hitachi, Samsung, WD, Seagate etc.
Hitachi used to be $70 and would have a $10 rebate on top making it $60. This was kind of the going rate for them.
Plus it was good for up to 5 drives on one order. I (& some friends) purchased about 20 of them over a period of 5 months.

Sounds about right. Living close to newegg means next day delivery but it also means CA sales tax.

amazon's sales tax holiday ends in September here in CA so now they'll have to compete for CA sales with newegg strickly on their price and not rely on a bogus tax advantage to make the sale.

This is what I got. It was $69.99 via New Egg. I got the $10 Visa Rebate card about 3 weeks later. I sent the rebate and all the items needed from the drive the same day it got here.

I bought a 2TB external for two reasons. (1) when I setup server back up and (2) use for now until internal prices come back to 2011 levels.

We're getting there, still about $20 or so away. Maybe some Back to School sales will get that price down there.
