Can someone verify whether this is the 5900 or 7200RPM model? Seagate apparently doesn't think this is important.

$160 for 4TB = $40 per TB
$115 for 3TB = $38 per TB

3TB = 7200rpm.
4TB = 5900rpm

GREEN or RED WD usually 5400RPM.

This 4TB seagate should be very competitive on energy while providing better performance and cost per TB.

I believe 4TB with 1TB platters and 5900RPM is ~5watts. WD GREEN 3TB is 5.5 watts. 7200RPM Seagate 3TB is about 5.4 watts.
I'd guess the 1TB platters on the 4TB combined with only 5900rpm to be just under the GREEN or 3TB 7200.14.

Of coarse the 7200.14 3TB is just as cheap per TB and highest performance due to 7200rpm.

Any chance you think we will be seeing these for around $130 again anytime soon? I am looking to Raid 1 these together as my primary storage solutions.

I doubt it. Not before 5TB drives are released.

Any idea when the 5tb are coming out? Man I wish I jumped on this deal when it was out and would have ordered 2 of them. I have tried contacted all the retailers and no one will honor their old offer.

I just found this Seagate Backup Plus for Mac 4TB USB 3.0 Mac Storage Model STCB4000102 Newegg.com Link with code EMCXSVR57 for 169.99 and you can price match off amazon for 159.99.

Will this drive work if you remove it for a PC?

Anyone have any ideas to get the price for the PC version of this lower?

5TB drives should be out by the end of this year or early next year.
