http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00829THLE

This is an excellent deal The 4tb Seagate drive is a 5900rpm so it had good speed and manages energy well. That a good price per TB and an excellent 4TB deal.

Plus if you are a prime member you get free 2 day shipping, which for me at least is usually overnight.

I have a bunch already but I haven't opened any myself yet. MFusick has probably done it countless times though, and I recall he said something like it wasn't overly difficult

I shucked one just recently.. A 3TB model that I didn't need for a while but was using it for some uses as a USB drive. The think is that it needs to get out of that case ASAP. It really gets to cooking in there. For this one, the case was history and I checked the SN and it told me it was part of an OEM thing and I needed that SN.. Case is gone now but drive isn't. Not too worried about it.

Dead. Back to $149.95. And the coupon above is "already redeemed".

I was able to "Register" all of my bare drives with no issues, but it did say it was an OEM component on the "Warranty Checker" page. I've been trying to open my cases nicely. I think so far I could re-assemble 3 of them without issue. I really only need 1 or 2 out of the lot I got to look good enough to put back together if I ever do have a warranty issue and they don't accept it bare.

That's a pretty good deal. If Newegg doesn't have anything better, I'll probably buy it.

A nice thing about these SeaGate externals is you liberate the drive you have a perfectly usable USB3 to SATA dock. Great for cloning drives or adding an optical drive or two.
