If you have expensive taste but wait for the deals, consider this audiophile 15” subwoofer from Paradigm. Its accurate to 10Hz (but many can’t hear below 16Hz). In a typical room, it can push 123 DB with its 1200 watt RMS (4,500 watt peak) class D amplifier.
The paradigm Signature Servo is a reference grade product and when positioned well in a regular room, it will be enough bass. The trick to getting great bass from this is finding the sweet spot in the room. Its a bitch, but well worth the time. It took me a week but finally discovered a how-to that said not to put it in a corner. When placed near the side wall between the front and rear speakers it woke the room up for the 2 channel and home theater configurations. The bass goes deep, low and its quick. It will vibrate your pant legs and will piss off your room mates (but when nobody is home its party time).
It weights in at 100(ish) pounds and has a very nice finish.
I did months of research in ’08 to find a sub and this was the sub to beat, all other reviewed subs had to measure up against this beast of a sub. I found one used at a high end audio shop (Definitive) and bought it. When they put it in my truck (in the extended cab), they tweaked the volume knob. So the knob is bent but works fine. Its also missing the grill.
It does not have the digital room correction, you will need to do things the old skool way (which works fine!).
It has XLR and RCA low level single channel inputs (can use one at a time), auto on/off, trigger on/off, variable cut-off 35-150Hz, phase alighment and bass contour adjustments.Link to bigger pictures and sales brochure (a good read).
