Mini- and full-size Martys were nearly identical when running same driver and power right, chal?

Very similar. Full had 1 to 1.5 dB's more from tuning to 30 hz.

Thanks to the wonderful information in Chalugadp's thread, my kids and I are building our first DIY speaker, a Martycube. We have it built and sanded, just waiting for the Duratex to come.

I ordered a SI 18 D2 driver, and I am wondering if I should have ordered the D4 driver instead. Not sure if I should change the order. I plan to power it with an INUKE 3000, and may build a second one sometime later.

Also, my Yamaha receiver has a function that balances the speakers using a microphone at the listening position. Is this the same thing as the DSP function on the INUKE?

Thanks in advance for any help!

thanks for the kind words if you think your going to get a second sub ( which u will) than you want the d4 model the DSP is far more advance than your receiver

Would you expect 2x MartyCubes to outperform a single MiniMarty, assuming in both cases i was buying an iNuke3000 to power the sub(s)? It'd be significantly cheaper to build 1 MiniMarty, but if 2x Cubes is worth it...

Depends upon what's important to you and your room. SPL wise there close but two cubes would even room response and would sound better in my opinion. I am loving my nearfield sub, so with two you could put one in front corner and one possibly near you.

Has anyone used an avalanche 18 in a mini Marty? I have one sitting around that I haven't used yet. Along with an ep2500 and a feedback destroyer pro. I was planning an LLT build, but is a little daunting. So maybe this would be a step in the right direction for me.

Thanks, does it matter if I stand it up with port on top or does it need to be on the bottom?

If you don't mind me asking, why did you sell the UXL? I'm thinking if I go the 18 route it would be martycube/mini with the UXL. I'm in Edmonton so the shipping for the SI's and HO's close the gap in price making the UXL a nice option.

This cab too big for my living room

Wanted nearfield sub so the uxl18 paid for me switching to three micro-cubes.

I loveeeeeee nearfield tactile. Can't imagine an uxl18 nearfield

Just upgraded to inuke 6000 and nice SPL boost. Three micros with 1100 watts are impressive for there size.

Buy 1.5" foam topping from Walmart. Line the whole inside with that.

Well our "Marty Cube" is up and thumping now!

Could use some quick advice though.

The kids and I are having a hard time convincing their mother of the need for a second one to "smooth the response."

Any info to turn her before she notices the second SI D4 on credit card bill would be greatly appreciated!
