Onkyo TX-NR3008 9.2 Ch A/V Receiver

***No Longer Available*** my used Onkyo TX-NR3008 receiver in great condition. Second owner and I've only had the unit for about a month. I love the ease of use and the sound of this unit. ***This sale only includes the receiver***. The RC-773M remote, Audyssey ACM1H mic, Power cord, Manual are NOT included (~$60 for all on eBay). The unit is heavy at 55lbs so it will be packaged very well.

$450.00 firm plus shipping, by Paypal gift or Certified check. PM me for any further details.

This thing does it all! Only selling because another cool unit became available.

Have you had any issues with the unit? Also, do you have the original box and packaging?

The DSP chip was re-flowed on the HDMI board. The firmware was updated and all has been working great! This unit sounds better than the TX-SR806 I had before it. 2 Channel Pure Audio play back is much nicer IMO...even better than the Pioneer Elite SC units I had previously. No original box but I will use a heavy duty box from work (That we used to ship Solar Inverters!) with two layers of styrofoam like this: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=411581

I've shipped a few AVR's this way and all have arrived safe. Only selling because I have a line on a TX-NR5008.

Appreciate the reply. Can you expand on what you mean by the DSP chip was re-flowed? Was this done by an authorized Onkyo repair center? Do you have proof that this was done?
I'm interested and looking to understands what the issue was and who/how it was fixed, thanks.

If you search right here on AVS: New Onkyo TX-NR5008 & TX-NR3008 or on the net there is info on some of the HDMI issue with some of the Onkyo units. Basically, the unit will have video but no sound. The Texas Instruments dts chip which is a BGA style or Ball Grid Array style:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball_grid_array
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...g?t=1393271753

...can develop a cold solder joint due to heat build up. Some other electronics like the XBOX, PS3, etc have had instances of issues with these same type of chips. To resolve this, these SMT or Surface Mount Technology chips have to be reheated in a wave oven or a hot air rework gun. I performed the repaired myself using the hot air gun method. I'm an electronics tech, schooled in '94, worked in several different industries since then, and currently reside as a tech support specialist for a solar inverter manufacturer. I'm no master but i'm comfortable around electronics and have repaired AVR's, amps, eq's, car audio decks, TV's, and everything else around the house many times over.

Onkyo, tends to replace the complete HDMI board and has performed a one time out of warranty repair for some of the original equipment owners regarding this issue. Not sure what the current status of this issue with them is as I did not even bother to check into that option.

Some Onkyo users use fans on top of the unit to pull the hot air away from the HDMI board: http://www.avsforum.com/photopost/da...28_205147.jpeg

Nevertheless, the repair was done and the unit has been in operation for about a month. The unit makes wonderful sound...not sure what more I can tell you? I can send a video of it making sound? or take a picture of the firmware versions? If there is a problem the unit will not show the DSP chip versions.

Buy in confidence!

Here is a video of the firmware versions. http://vidmg.photobucket.com/albums/...IDEO0077-1.mp4
All have been updated. These won't read if there were issues.
