FS: JTR 215RT and 215RM

I have a pair of the JTR 215RT's and one of the 215RM speakers that I am putting up for sale. These are just over a month old and have minimal use on them.

These are the amazing speakers and I am willing to get rid of them a substantial discount so I can move onto something else, but I am not going to "give them away"

Due to the size of these, it will be nearly impossible for me to ship these for a reasonable cost.

I live in Knoxville Tennessee and am willing to drive up to 6-7 hours to meet somebody if the right deal can be made. They will fit in a mini van if you can remove the seats.

I am asking $8500 for all three but would be willing to break them up if separate deals can be made at the same time.

Attached is a picture of the 215RM.

Coach, since you just bought all of this stuff wouldn't Jeff just take it back if you weren't happy with them?

Hello, I am considering buying the 215rt and a 215rm for center. I noticed you were selling this setup at one point. Can you give me your honest opinion on this setup for both movies and music and why you chose to sell?

Thank you

I'm not Coach but was along for the ride as he tried various speakers. He had some Klipsch and some others before I knew him but since I've known him he's gone from the JTR 212HT to the 215RT/RM, to the Seaton Cat12Cs, and is now using the JBL 4722n. His primary focus is movies and he is incredibly focused on clear dialog, dynamics, and strong midbass. He says the JBL 4722n gives him the effortless sound he was searching for, recreating the movie theater experience at home. The JBL 4722n are an incredible value with amazing performance but won't win any beauty contests. Some others speak to how great the 4722n sound with concert blurays but may not be as good for 2-ch music. Here is the "official" 4722n thread, Just purchased a pair of JBL 4722n speakers.. Hope that helps.

EDIT: Meant to add specifically to the 215RT, the primary reason for the change was simply the speakers being too big for his room and not imaging wide enough since his seating wasn't far enough back. The new horn also wasn't quite as live as the older aluminum horn so there was a slight tonal difference as well. Considering how many sometimes complained the older aluminum horn was too bright, I can understand why Jeff made the tweak, even though I personally became used to and prefer the horn on my older JTR 212s.

David

Thanks David.

He just about covered everything exactly how it was. I also had three of the JTR T12's as my first entry into the world of JTR. It might have been my room layout, the location of the speakers or something else....but IMO, those were the best JTR speakers I had heard. They gave me the mid bass I wanted with minimal eq and the sound stage I was looking for. The 212HT's had a drop in the mid bass and then the 215's were just too big for my room(Like David had said) There are other reasons and those reasons are better discussed via PM...but at the end of the day they aren't even a big deal anymore. I got over it.

The JBL 4722N's are, by far, my favorite HT speaker. I just can't rave enough about them and what a tremendous value they really are. They do need to go behind an AT screen if you are into the appearance factor because they are sure aren't purty..

I am 100% movies when it comes to my room. The combination of the JBL 4722N's, SCS8 for surround/Atmos and dual Deep Sea Sound Mariana 24's leave me zero desire to change anything. My wife and I have also cut our movie watching in the theaters down by over 75%...

Sorry for the rant.

Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

HI Mike, I tried to pm you but don't have enough post yet. I am looking to purchase the exact JTR set up that you have and am also located in Michigan (Ann Arbor).

I am wondering if there is a possibility that my wife and I could audition your set up?

How is the set up for music? Are they as good for movies as everyone seems to agree?

Can you please email me at RnDroid1 aol com and let me know if this would be a possibility? If not please let me know that as well.

Thank you for your time,

Randy McClelland

Pass message along

Hey coach or David could you pass my message along to bermich as I am still unable to pm as this is only my third post. I am considering doing a couple of b.s. post just so I can PM but don't want to waste peoples time. It would really be nice as we are both in Mi if I could hear his set up.

Thanks, Randy

Has anybody listened to the 210RT's there doesn't seem to be a lot of info on the?. Jeff suggested using them instead of 212s for surrounds and rears. Would be interested in hearing input.

You might want to head over to the Official JTR Speaker Thread and ask there. I heard them briefly at the AXPONA show last year and they sounded good to me, seemed like some strong midbass too. Just checked your location and I'd suggest you attend the AXPONA show if you can; April 15-17 in Rosemont, IL (outside of Chicago).

I heard them at the Pittsburgh gtg this past Sunday and was blown away. We listened to some music clips with no subs and the amount of clearly defined bass they put out was astonishing. Check out that thread.
